A Naw - PilsEts iN run CONMERCE GAME.
A-Gersten,. named Anthony Lippert, made in
. formation 'at the Mayor's office on Monday,
against one J. C. Broyfogla, charging him with
`swindling him out of $26,00. It appears that
-some time daring the koonth of June, Breyfogle
''represented to Lippert that he was agent for the
• -Pennsylvania Insurance Company, and asked
him if he would not like to insure his property.
Lippert then told Breyfogle to call at the toll
house of the Mechanics street bridge, and the
money requisite to procure the policies would
be forthcoming. Breyfogle did so, and obtain•
ed the amount, $26,00, for which he left the
following receipt :
•• Received of George Hetzel, for Anthony
Lippert, $26,00, to be applied on two policies of
•• insaranoe on his four dwelling houses. Policies
dated June 80, 1855. J. C. BRESFOODE.
July 3, 1855."
Lippert not receiving his policy, called at the
office of the Pennsylvania Insurance Company,
to see about the matter—when ho learned that
be had been swindled, as no such man as Brey
fogle was agent for the company.
THE DECISION OF JUDGE MCCLURE IN THE
Baser) Cesas.--Judge McClure has decided the
bread oases in favor of the defendants. These
were write of certiorari to Alderman Donaldson.
The aotione wore brought for the penalty under
a city ordinance, for selling loaves of bread of
less weight than two pounds. Col. Black, for
the plaintiffs in error, contended that the ordt
num should have been set out on the record of
the Alderman, and that the ordinance itself was I
in restraint of trade, and not such as the city
Councils were authorized to pass. The Court
decided that the record of the Alderman was
defective in not setting forth the ordinance, and
reversed the judgment on this point without de
ciding upon the legality of the ordinance.
Ens AHEAD !--By reference to the amuse
meat column, it will be observed that Sliter,
Wells and Birch's celebrated troupe of Ethio
pian performers, will be in the city shortly.
The three names at the head of this company
insure that the performances will be of the fleet
order. Everybody knows Dick Sliter, and the
reputation of Walla and Birch is bat little less
extensive. Therefore, look out for fun.
Buitut.ißr.—On Monday night, the dwelling
of Mr. William Clinton, on Chestnut street, Al

three rascals, who obtained admittance by

the other parts or the keine but the noise
created opening the doors awoke Mr. Clinton—
at whose appearance thby fled.

Ethiopian Minstrels continue to draw &et rate

Brown ' in his famous jigs, elicits the loudest ap
planeefrom all. The rest of the performers are
all pre-eminent in their lino, and are calculated
to amuse the dullest. As they only remain a
few days, every one should visit them as soon as
possible.
STIIIJCP. nr LICILLTNUO.—The Tines BLUES
that daring the storm yesterday morning, the

the household.
AR OwNER NVANTRD.—A notorious character
aimed Williams was yesterday arrested with a

Reader, I peddled over a thousand bottles of this in the

So sure as water will extinguish fire, so sure will this cure
humor. I never sold a bottle of It but that Bold another ;
after a trial, it always speaks for itself. There are two
things about this herb that appear to me surprising: first,
that It'grows in our pastures, in some places quite plenti•
fnl, and yet its value has never been known until I discov•
ered it in 1846—second, that it should cure all kinds of
humeri
In order to give some ides of the sudden rise and great
popularity of the disoovery, I will state that in April, 1853,
I peddled It and told about eh bottles per day—in April,
1864, I sold over one thousand bottler per day of It.
Some Or the whoa:reale druggists. who have been In bust.
eels twenty and thirty years, say that nothing in the annals
of patent medicines was ever like it. There is a universal
praise of it from all quarters.
In my own practice I always kept it strictly for humors,
but since its introduction as a general family medicine,
great and wonderful virtues have been found in it that I
never suspected.
'levered camel epllepde tats—a disease which wad always
musidsred incurable—have been cured by a few bottled. 0,
what a mercy If it will prove effectual In all eases of that
awful malady there are but few who have sem more of
