Baumgarten 4: Hollis, of Hamburg, the manufacturers,
was lu•erted. This morning 1 observed in several of the
daily papers a " Nate ," signed by,Pref. H, In which he
states that 1 was unauthorised to make use of It, and that
it was incorrectly stated and applied.
in reply—l presumed that if he had written the letter,
he, of course, meant what was therein contained, and con
sequently required un authority from him to make the
same public. As regard- the assertion as to its Incorrect
ness, I have the letter In my possession, and it speaks fox
Itself. word for word as I have published. Messrs Baum
garten et Heins are not dependant upon Mr. Itobbock for
endei cement—their Pianos were known, app-related and
reeeirial the highest rommemletions from the test artists,
long before Prof. It. Flaw at to pass an opinion upon them.
My reason for publishing the extract was in the fort that
lie wag well known In the city, and not be ause his rerxim
mendation was necessary to establish tin merit of the
Hausa. In conclusion, I may add that they stand on their
ow - n merit, and are endorsed by such men us List, Thalberg,
and others, solely on account of their merit.

the mat' er is incorrectly stated and misapplied. the facts
ore these: About n year ago I wrote to Baumgarten A
Heins, Piano makers in homburg, (Germany,) for a Piano
era new and peculiar construction, and of which !furnish
ed a minute description. They replied that they did not
manufacture any such, and requested me to examine a
Piano at their make sent '.o Mrs. Blume, at the came time
offering to furnish me with a similar one, in case I liked it.
I accordingly examined the instrument, brit as it did not
please me, I declined purchasing of them. I have since

not be lawful for any Butcher, secondhand Dealer or other
person, to sell, or expose for Sale, at the Diamond' Market,
any article, either of Meat. Poultry, Vegetables,
Butter, Eggs, or other products usually syld in Market,
which he, she or they mry have purchased within the limits ,
of the said city on Market days; nataely: on Ttlislay,lVed; •
nesday, Friday and Saturday, under a penalty, Of.not,tess
