THURSDAY MORNING Murder in West Pittsburgh—Arbest or THE Mubdeber. — A man named Frederick Wolfs burgher, a German about 45 -years of age, was killed in West Pittsburgh, yesterday afternoon, in the following manner: Joseph Davis, George Couch and the deceased were walking together on the boardwalk, a short distance above Jones Ferry, when a quarrel oc curred between Davis and Wolfsbnrgher. After a short wordy altercation, Davis shoved Wolfa bnrgbcr over the side of the walk, - down the embankment, which wes about thirty-five feet high. The unfortunate man fell over head fore most, alighting on a large rook, which split his skull into a dozen pieces. lls did not live five minutes after tho occurrence. The deocaecd was employed by Singer, Hartman & Co., as a driver, and is represented to have been an inof fensive man. After th*> outrage, the two men, Couoh and Davis, leisurely proceeded to their boarding house in the village, where they were arrested by a yonng man named John Conner, a clerk in Jones* toll house, and brought to the Mayor’s office inthis city. The deceased was first conveyed to the Ferry Toll House, where Esquire Carnahan empannel led a jury, about ten o'clock last night, to hold an inquest. The following is the evidence of the first witness examined : John Cavett. sworn. — Was standing on the ferry-boat when, looking up towards the hill, saw three men—the deceased, Geo Conch and Joseph Davis standing on the hoard-walk; just at that moment saw the latter shove deceased; bo fell over the bank, falling head foremost, upon a largo rook; remarked to Jo&eph Grounds that that man was killed; we both then Btarted to the place where deceased had fallen; saw the three men ou the bank start off, and I followed to see if I could recognize them; when I reached deceased, raised up hia. bead, saw tho blood coming out, and that tho skull was all smashed. The hour being late when this witness got through with his testimony, we were compelled to.leave without hearing any thing additional. The body of Wolfsburgcr was taken to tbo boarding house of Jacob Kuopp, where he resi ded, but that person refused to let it como into his boose, and it was only after the most argent persuasion that he finally took it io. The un fortunate man was unmarried. We were informed last night, whilo in South Pittsburgh, that Davis, a few days ago, stabbed amaneo badly that he has been lying at the point of death ever since. If this is true, and there appears to be no doubt of it, ke is a char acter that it will be well to rid society of. A full examination of the case will be had be fore Mayor Volz to-day. We hare seen the testimony of persons well known to 05, who haveusad the compound thereby corroborating the opinion of its restorative oner tty. We know of nothink more durable jn the wayof per sonal comeliness ami fccmfort than a’gool head nflui!r,and any process bv which this crowning ornament of the outer man can be preserved, or recovered whan lost, without, in the laiter case, a resort to Wigs, Toupes and ScraM ue, de serves to he hailed and embraced with gratitude by all of either sex, who are nnlucky enough to need its benefit. We took occasion the other day to notice this valuable compound in the above terms, and now republish what was then said, to show again our favorable opinion of it. Tbe foregoing is taken from the Petersburg (Virginia) Intelligencer, and refers to an article which has for a time been advertised In our columns. We mast confess that wo have been somewhat sceptical as to the remarkable effects attributed to this famous “Hair Restorer.” But our In* credulity has been greatly shaken within a day or two by seeing a couple of certificates of well-known and perfectly credible citizens of the neighboring town of Preston—one of them tbe Captain of a New London whaling ship—to the effect that, in each of these cases, a two or three months’ nse of the « Restorer” had actually brought out a new and vigorous growth of hair upon Ibo head where it wa9 before bald—the ba’dneas belDg, in one case, of more than twenty years standing. Wa do not suppose It is by any means err taiu that, because the application has bten thus successful In one case, or two, or a dozen, It is therefore certain to prove equally successful In all. But with such head-strong evidence as the foregoing, very few bald beads, wo suspect, would willingly forego a fair trial of tbe “ Restorer.” All such “old heads” are informed that tbe nrticlo can be had at Messrs. Lee 4 Osgood’s —Harwich Evening Courier.
