A Vitriol Majj.—A warrant was yesterday iasjod by Alderman Major, for the arrest of a man named David Brown, charged with the offenco of throwing vitriol, or 6ome other corro sive acid, on the dress of Sarah Barker. Sarah states that while going up Wylie street, on Tues day night, in company with two or throe other females, she was followed for Borne distanco by Brown. On turning round to remonstrate with him, be threw something at her, which she sup posed was a knife. While talking to him he also made motions as* if throwing at her, and every tlmo, she frit something drop on her dress. Af ter talking to him a few minutes, she proceeded home, where, on going to take off her dress, she found that a largo part of the skirt was burnt in holeß by some kind of currosivo acid. This Brown is tho same fellow whom wo pub lished some months ago, as having left his wire and gone off with a female, named Mrs. Fini frogg, who, we believe, is the complainant in this case, under another name. Sioco that time, they have returned; and the woman deserting her paramonr, ho, In a fit of jealousy perpetra ted the outrage &s above recorded. Whether the vitriol was intended for the girl’s face, or otily for her clothing, is a question we suppose will bo settled on an examination before the alderman, if tho scoundrel is caught. Serious Accident.—A man Domed Christo pher M’fleil, while going tu the firo on Tuesday night, met with an accident which will probably prove fatal. 61’Neil formerly resided in Brook ville, Jefferson county, and was putting up at the house of a relative, situated on the corner of Weßt Commons and Ohio street, waiting for his family, who had not yet arrived, but whom ho oxpectcd to Join him iu a few days, fer the pur pose of proceeding to lowa, where they intend to make tbeir future abode. When the fire broke out, he started for the scene iu company with a friend, and for tbo purpose of getting there as boon as possible, determined to cross over that patt of .the Seminary Hill, called Hog-baok, that being the shortest course they could tako. They finally gained tho hill, aud not knowing that a road had been cut through it, Mr. M'Neil, who was in advance of bis comp&nian, fell over the bank into the road, a distance of some thirty feet. Here he lay senseloss, until hia compan ion, who witnessed tho accident, procured help, when ho was conveyed on a settee to tho Louse he was stopping at, where be now lies in a criti cal couditiou. One of his legs and arms veto broken, besides receiving a severe contusion on bead by the /all. Drs. John and Thomas Dick sou are attending to him, and think he will re cover under proper care. The injured muu is some fifty years of age. Re Arrest of a Supposed Bubglak. —Wo mentioned, a few days ago, the escape from the tombs of a fellow culling himself John Bosley, where he had been confiued on suspicion of be* iog a borglar; the night police, we believe, hav ing Been him attempt to eutcr the clothing store of M’Caoce & Co., on the corner of Plum alley and Liberty street. On Tuesday night, a gentle man in Allegheny heard two boys conversing on this escape, and learnt from them that Bosiey Wi9 in the employ of Mr. James Hoag, butcher, under the name of Fox. This information he conveyed to Mayor Volz, and yesterday officers ] Richardson and Moon proceeded to the market | house, where they found him serving out meat at Mr. Hoag’s stall. The fallow, cn discovering their errand, disclaimed all knowledge of such a person as Bosley or Fox, and said his name was Johoston. The subterfuge, however, would not answer, and he was re arrested and broogbt to the Mayor’s office, where he will have an exami nation today. . C - Alderman Donaldson’s Decisions in the Bread Suits —The decision in the bread suits was yesterday given Donaldson: John-Sheppard, L. Patty, Joseph Sbocb, J. M. Faas, A. & P. Its peculiar chemical qualities have a beneficial effect upon the grow th and character of the hair, giving a cilky and glossy texture to that which was former* ly of a coarse and dry nature. It has also a tendency to preserve the youthful color and appearance of the hair, and destroying or counteracting the effects of age. With such recommendations in its favor, wo hardly perceive bow any lady or gentleman chould he without so valuable an adjunct to the toilet. Persons who have used It from the ago of sixty-four down, declare it to be the most perfect ar ticle to secure the object intended ever yet produced. Gray hair, whether produced by the slow progress of time, or by any of the causes which whiten the locks prematurely, Is restored to a healthy, lively appearance, and all the dlsa. greeable effects of dryness, the accumulation of dandruff or like impuritios, are removed. From the Editor of the Beal Estate Advertiser, 27 School st Boston, March 20,1851. Pr.or. Wood: Dear Sir— Having become prematurely quite gray, I was induced same six weeks since, to make trial of your Hair Restorative. 1 have usod less than two bottles, but the gray hairs have all disappeared; and al though my hair has not fully attained Us original color, yet the process ot chaDge is gradually going on, and I have great hopes that, in a short time, my hair will be as dark na formerly. I have also beeu much gratified at the healthy moisture nod vigor of tbe bair, which before was harsh and dry, aad it has ceased to come out as formerly. Respvctfully Yours, D. C W. Rdpp. Pros. Wood : Dear Sir— My hair commenced falling off some three or four years since, and continued to do so until I became quite bold. I tried all the popular Remedies of the day, but to no effect; at last I was induced to use your cel ebrated Hair Restorative, and am very happy to say it la doing wonders. I have now a fine growth of young hair, and cheerfully recommend ltsuse to all similarly afllictod. A. C. Williamson, 133 Second street. St. Louis, March 7th, 1854. Carlyle, 111., June 27th, 1853. I have u«ed Prof. 0. J. Wood’s Hair Restorative, and have almired Its wonderful effect. My hair was becoming, as I thought, prematurely gray, but by tbe use of his Restora tive, it has resumed Its original color, and, 1 have no doubt, permanently so. Sydney Brekse, 3 Ex-Senator, United States. Vincennes, Indiana, June 16tb, 1863. Paor 0. J. Wood: Dear Sir—As you are about to manu facture extensively and rend your recently discovered Hair Reetorativo, 1 will state, ter whomsoever it may concern, that I have used It, and known others use it; that I have for several years been in tbe habit or using other Hair Re storatives, and that I find youro vastly superior to any other I know. It entirely cleanse* the head of dandruff, and with one month's proper use will restore any person’* hair to the original youthful color and texturo, giving it a healthy, roft, and glossy appearance, and all this without di-woloriug tbe hands that apply it, or tho dress rn which it drops. I would, therefore, recommend its use to every one desirous of having a fine color and texturo to hair. Respectfully yours, Wilson Kino. Fcr salo by 0. J. Sucn AN ARRAY OF TESTIMONY as Dr. Corn’s 1 Rheumatic Pills have called forth from all classes, was never voluntarily offered in favor of any other Medians, The cases of euro comprehend EVERY STAGE OF RHEUMATISM, Whether accompanied by that terrible sensibility of the parts affected, common in the inflammatory phase—by tbe muscular contractions which so often render tbe victim of Chronic RheumatLm a helpless cripple, or by tbe ever changing symptoms which are sometimes the characteristics of this Protean complaint. Unlike the "Snngrado” practice of bleeding and purging, which some sapient medicos consider the legitimate modo of treating Rheumatism, these PUls sustain and cherhh the animal forces, invigorate the constitution, and thus act as the allies of Nature in her efforts to cast oil the disease. Their medical action is direct and specific. It reaches the materia mvxibi or radix of the disorder, through all the complications of nerves and fibres inwbich it is entrenched, and expels from the blood the febrile principle which feeds, and spreads, and intensifies, while It spreads the fatal ten dencies of the malady.
