SATIIIIDAY MORNING Agar TO LNLII POE BALE AT THIS 0.171(11e. Cann Losr.—A son of Mr. Benjamin F. Lat shaw wandered away from his home last Mon day and has not been heard of since. The child ie about ten years of age, and at the time of his disappearance had on a brown cassinet overcoat, with roundabout, and brown cashmere pants. He was last assn in Allegheny. Any information Bent to Mr. Latshaw, at the office of the Morning Post, will be gratefully received by Ms afflicted parental. Comm or QTJASZTTIL 13151110NEL—Before Hon William B. BPClare, President Judge; Gabrie Adams and William Boggs Associates. The cues of the Commonwealth vs. Michael M'Cullough, after a fair and impartial charge from Judge BlL'Clure, went to the jury yesterday afternoon, about 3 o'clock. The jury, after an absence of a couple of hours, returned into Court with a verdict of guilty on the first count of the indictment, which charged the defendant with obstructing navigation, but not guilty on the two other counts for nuisance. Dianna COUST.—Before,„Judges Hampton and Williams. In the case of William J. thiffth, or 030' of David 8.. Grier vs. Cash Mutual Jr., innuratoe Company, the jury returned a yordiot of 1.832 08 for plaintiff. C. Ihmsen vs. Negley & Mohan. Action to re-' cover the amount of certain notes on which de fendants were endorsers. On trial. THE NEW COMITY OPTICEIM—The commis - Siena of the County officers selected at the elec tion in October, were made out yesterday, and the new incumbents sworn in. The ceremony was of a very interesting description, and oc curred in the Court of Quarter 13081e0IM The following are the names of the new officers: Clerk ci the Court, John Horner; Register, J. Harvey Robb; Recorder, Luke Ldomis. Mr. Cooper, the lately elected County Commissioner, took his, piste some time ago. We understand that Mr. Thomas A. Rowley has been appointed Assistant Clerk of the Courts, and will occupy that olliee'along with Mr. Romer. New GERMAN THKATRE.—That portion of our German population who are fond of theatrical representations, have now in process of con struction, on the corner of O'Hara street and Spring alley, in the Fifth Ward, a fine new building, to he devoted to this purpose. The structure is almost finished, and will be inaugu rated with a ball, in a few days. A new com pany, comprising some of the best German actors to be had, has been engaged expressly to perform. The building is large and commo diens, and particularly adapted to give good ef fect to scenic representations. New scenery, of a beautiful kind, has also been provided. Tun SEAL UNCLE Ton's Cams."—We See by the Wheeling papers that Mr. Geo. W. Jamison is performing his version of Uncle Tom's Cabin there to very slim houses. The people either don't ap;reciate Mr. Jamison's powers as an as tor,or are as little disposed to believe his view of the btfivCry question as those farther north, Mrs. Stowe's version. He will find, as he proceeds farther south, that the inhabitants are not so ignorant bu. that they can discriminate between balderdash and sense, and will not patronize any play destitute of literary merit, simply because it panders to their prejudices on the subject of slavery. CAST IRON COLUMNS.—We observed yesterday, at the basin, on Grant Street, a large number of oast iron pillars, brought thronz.h from Philadel phia by canal. They are intended as columns for the new buildings of the St. Louis Gas Com pany, and awaiting the long-desired rise in the river to be sent on there. We are surprised that such articles are brought from Philadelphia, as we feel confident they could be manufactured to much better advantage here, besides saving the difference in freight between the two cities, which, judging from the immense weight of the articles, must be considerable. GONE TO MINNESGTA.—Mr. James Mills, for several years connected with this paper as kcal editor, and more recently editor of the Trumbull County Democrat, left this city on Thursday for Minnesota, with the design of making that far distant country his future home. Is Mills is a young man of talent, energy and perseverance, and is bound to achieve a name for himself wherever he may locate. We wish him the most unbounded success and prosperity. LIBERAL.—We are told by Alf., of the Banner hat store, that he will take, for this day and Monday, the notes of the Bank of Pittsburgh at par. Those who don't wish to stand a shave, should invest at the Banner, 147 Wood street, opposite the new Presbyterian Church. Look out for the sign of the American flag, for good bats at fair prices. Tun ANTI/OMUTA:7 SERENADE/, Who have been performing for some evenings past with great success in Wheeling, will appear at Ma sonic Hall, in our city, on Tuesday evening next. We understand that this is one of the best com panies of vocalists in the country, and we have no doubt that they will give satisfaction to all who attend their concerts. Swat, Pox ix nix Jan..—A prisoner in the county jail, named William Bowen, lately com mitted for costa cf Court, was attacked with the .emall - pox, yesterday morning. lie is supposed to have brought the disease with him, as this is the first case of the kind known in the institu tion. He was taken to one of the hospitals. THEATRICAL ITEM.—We .understand that Mr. R. Ryan, the comedian, who lately eloped city with a young lady, intends travel . from tn,_ nopular actress, Miss Mitchell, for tog with the —norting her in her professional the purpose of eu,., .IHR are both excellent in engagements. The pa. 'oubt will be highly their line, and we have no successful in playing Agether. LARIMER'S COUNTERFIT aljßnot .—To, her number of Larither's Mirror and Couute. Detector has just been issued. It contains lie similes of several dangerous counterfeits at pros ent in circulation ; the latest reports of the mar kets ; the most reliable financial information ; and other news of, au invaluable kind. Copies can be procured at the different book stores. ASSAULT AND BATTERT.—Mr. Charles Rummel was committed to jail, yesterday by Alderman Hagerman, of 2.irmingham, fbr committing an assault oq his wife. Wife whipping appears to be quite a prevalent amusement in our city, as hardly a day passes but some wretch is commit ' ted to jail for indulging in it. STEALING BREAST PINS.—Two young men, one 17, and the other 20 years of age, named Thos. Hughes and Enoch iNwell, were committed to jail yesterday, by Mayor Volz, for stealing seve ral breast pine from the jewelry establishment of Mr. John Stevenson, on Market street. PENNSYLVANIA INSURANCE COMPANY. —We would call the attention of our readers to the advertisement of the Pennsylvania Insurance Company, to be found in another column. The Company is a justly reliable one, and perfectly safe to insure in. BMW "PLACE.—One of the busiest places in the city is on the canal, between Seventh and Liberty streets, on market evenings. On these occasions the crowd is so dense, generally, that it is almost idtpossible to make way through.
