the occomittes selected on the 17th of August, In the Pint
Presbyterian Church, met at the of of Robb A Kirkpat
rick, on Saturday, the 28th Inst.
Dr. Robert Wray was called to the Chair, and John M.
Miggiatriek, Meg, appointed Secretary. •
After en interchange of views among the members of the
ireandttea, in regard to the adoption or Use best manures
to Airtime the object contemplated, a committee of three,
antsisting of Gen. Wm. Larimer, Capt.-Day eon, and Dr.
Robe. Wray, was appointed to correspond with the trupecin.
tendents of the prisons of the serious counties to which
the new poison discipline bed been adopted, and solicit re
ports of to. workings of the system.
In conjunction with the balance of the committee, they
were eV, authorised to draw up a bill, to be presented at
the neat greaten of the LegLasture, having 'for it. objeM
the amelioration of the condition of county prisoners.
The following memorial, which Was presented by Win
D. L. Dix, the celebrated philanttropist, to the Penturylra
