Row on the Steubenville Railroad. A
difflealty oceum-J yesterday morning on Section 4 of the
Pittsburgh and SU-übcavillo Railroad, between one of the
contractors, named Addison Foster, and three of the men in
bU employ, during which the contractor was beaten In a
very severe and brutal manner. The men, who are all
Irish, and named Domiuick Rodgers, Peter Nary, and Mich l
Coffee, were ordered to perform a piece of work, which they
refused to do; and when the interference of Foster wss
called, all three jumped upon him, and'battrred his face al.
most into a jelly. Information of the outrage was sent t©
town, and warrants for the arrest of the perpetrators Issued.

Suits against the Sheriff.—Two different
sluts were yesterday instituted against Sheriff MagiU, in the
District Court, for violations of the 11th section of the Act
of Assembly, of 2Sth of February, 1635. The act in ques
tion prescribes that the Sheriff fhall post up in his office
certain notices of sales of property, which the prosecutors
he neglected to do. One of the suits is brought by
Thdmas J Colt-man, the other by Jaml M. Brush, Clerk of
the Courts

Allegheny Valley Railroad —A warrant

A* Ron Off.— A pair of mules attached to one
of Lcwm’ iron wagon?, ran off passing over the St
Clair street bridge on Monday afternoon. Coming out o?

him severely. The mules ran op the street, and were slap

James Roundtree, connected with an extensive band of
counterfeiters, was arrested ut Paris, Kentucky, yesterday;
$7,000 in counterfeit bill* of $5O, on the Bank of North

Thursday for $34,000. It is said that her late owner, Capt.
Smllbers, intends building a new boat immediately The
river is felling al Davenport, and on a stand at Lewer Rap
ids, with thirty inches in the channel The fine little
steamer Col. Morgan, which has been compelled by tbe
total drying up of the Desnaoines river, to drop out of that
trade, arrived from Oquawka yesterday morning with a
load of grain, bacon and whisky The Banner fitafe,wben
returning from Council Bluffs, end when twelve mile* above,
St. Joseph, on Btturdey the 15th, struck a snag, which
broke many other timbers on the starboard side of the boat
abaft the boilers. She immediately sunk, owing to the
great rush of water into her bold, which, at the lime, con
laloed about three hundred tons of valuable freight. The
pilot woe immediately despatched to St. Joseph, where he
engaged thb Polar Star to proceed to the scene of tbe dbas
ter; she rendered some service,for which was paid the sum
of $5OO. The Banner Stale arrived yeaterday morning at
our wh*rf, and shortly after moved en—we suppose to the
docks. The amount of damage done to the freight was not
ascertained yesterday. The fact of her being letafloat and
enabled to proreed oo her trip in so short a time after
sinking, was owing to the removal of her deck load by the
Polar Star, and the untiring energy of tbe hands on the
Banner Slate in pumping out the water, and stopping up
the bole made by the snag.
