guns out., Tho captain of the Express, however, maintain
ed his position, and delivered up bis prisoners to the civil
authorities, by whom they were fined. The affair is stated
to have occasioned some ocrvl correspondence between the
United States .and British authorities which has been to

The accident to tho Arctic occaired at 2 o’clock, A.M , on
Thursday. It created eonsiderablo alarm amongst tbs pas
sengers. Tho vessel got into deep water immediately after
striking and proocedod on her way. Upon dteoveriog,
however, that she was leaking, and that the water gained
on the pumps, fhe headed back to Liverpool, and woold
be Uotaincd about one week fbr repairs.
