District Court, on Saturday, read an opinion in tho case of
Robinson ts. Patterson, in Which an Important principle, os
regards the - rights' of married women, was settled. Tho
• issue between tho. parties was argued before the Court by
• Mr McKnichVlor tho plaintiff, and by Mr- Aldeo, for the
• defrnce. Tho question at issue was. whether ‘h married
woman, plnco the passage of the Act of 1849, could execute
a'bond ln her own name; for tho payment of money. Judge
Williams, in an able opinion, decided that she could; that
the Act of 1848 invested h®t with the exclusive ownership
cf her property, and also with the responsibilities attendant
upon such, ownership.

created in Allegheny city, on Friday, inconsequence of an
•’accident which occurred at tho Water Works* about eleven

Ray, the break repaired, and the Works put into operation
