FOURTH OS' JELV.
It is uaunl for Editors, on each anniversary of
American Independence, to utter soma beautiful
'and patriotic sentiments, so that tbeir readers
teay bo inspired with the spirit of the occasion.
Wo do not feel disposed to write a Fourth of
July Oration today, for the very good reason
'that, such effervescences or patriotism have be
come so common, that but few persons foci dis
posed tc read them. We hope, however, that
all our readers, on this glorious day, will duly
* appreciate the inestimable blessings and privi
leges" which they enjoy as American freemen-,
and 6e' ready to swear on the alters of their
country, unswerving devotion to Us institutions,
and eternal hostility to those who would seek to
' weaken the bonds which unite us ns n nation.—
To he called n Boman citizen was the proudest
boost of the people of the Eternal City, during
its belter days.. It_was to them a shield and
panoply wherever they wont, to protect them
from insult and danger. To bo entitled to the
proud appellation of an Amoricftn citizen, is a
still dearer privilege, and those who enjoy it
should" from their hearts thank the Almighty

: To-day is the glorious Fourth, and every body
