Pennsylvania, which hes affected the market

enquiry at the Bank, we learn that the exact
amount abstracted his not been ascertained, but
that it will fall far below, the street rumors in
relation to it, and under no circumstances Can
possibly affect the standing of the Bank. In
deed, so far as we can learn, the grater amount
of the defalcation Is amply secured,_and the
balance, it is believed, is not beyon hope of
recovery. The defalcation, It appears, occurred
some months ago, on the part of a book keeper,
and who, for some time past, has had sto con
nection with the Bank.

of Maine for an increase of Bank Capital in that
