Dana Stns: As tho time for the meeting of
tbie•Democratic State Con'tention, is rapidly ap
proaching, the merits and claims of the different
candidates before the Convention for nomina
tion, ia.now the proper theme of discussion. In
this sage. of proyrasive 'Democraey, which has
been so triumphantly sustained by the people at
the last election, for the welfare and success of
the Democratic party, and the principles which
the party advocates, it is necessary for the Con
vention to nominate men who are known to be
uncompromisiog Democrats, men against whom
there can be no objections, and who can control
the 'who'. vote and strength of the party, such a
man is Dr. Jons 1'ATT110,1:.• of Payette county,
who has been named by his numerous friends
in connection with tho office of Sows:oft Gimp
EUAL, popular in- his manners, eminently quali
fied for the position, nod a reliable Democrat,
that is always - found battling for the principles
of his party, of unimpeachable integrity, and a
man seeing whom there can be no objections.
If he consent to let ,his name go before the
Convention, he will find many warm and ardent
supporters, who will ass every exertion for his
Domination. For the 'success of the party, we
sincerely hope that he will consent to be a din
didato and be nominated by the Convention. •
