Shea, who is an old man, and very tick: at present, Was oharged with stealing jewelry and variousarticlesof clothing from Jane M’Lelland and Ebenezer Day. The jury found bim gailty.cn two indictments ■ which had been preferred against him. Conuttonwealthvs William Alien. Indictment, keeping a. tippling house. The prisoner- was found guUiy, and Judge SPClure sentenced him to pay a fine of §75, and. he was committed’ in default of payment. No other cases of any interest wore taken up yesterday. Burglary. —Somo villain entered the boarding honse-of Mrs; Deary, - near Isabella street, in Allegheny city, yesterday morning nt two o'clock. The burglar took the trunks of the lodgers into the hack yard, where he searched them, but was. unsuccessful in finding anything of Yalue, other, than an accordion and a dollar and a quarter.- Ho went to the room and again renewed his search, but awakened one of the lodgers, who screamed forififelp. The robber -struck her a blow,' and ma'de off, closely followed by the lady of the house, who chaseihim through the yard wifha stick, but he leaped the fence, and was seen no more, leaving the ocoordien he had sto len in the house of Mrs. D , and aIBO one ho had plundered from some other house. The robber was disguised—his face being painted black. Ladies' Festival. —Wo neglected to mention yesterday, that the ladies of Lawrenceville and vicinity will bold a Festival, in the United States Park, on Thursday the 17th; from 12 o’clock M. to 8 P. M. ' The proceeds of tho fair are to bo applied towards: furnishing the now houßO of worship; building by the Presbyterian Church, in the borough of Lawrcnoovillc. The park has been generously given by the commandant of tho. garrison-to the use of the ladies, .and is a. most, beautiful and shady-retreat, with buildings, , in case the weather should prove disagrcablc.— Tickets entitling the holders to dine, may be had at tho store of Messrs. J. D. Williams & Co., and the mnsio -stores of Messrs; Mellor and Klcber, Theatre. —Mr. Mnlbolland makes his first ap pearance 3t the Theatre this evening. He is on accomplished and versatile aotor, playing all manner of characters, from the tottering, and trembling old man to the gay and frolieksom e young Irishman. He appears this evening in tho character of Horeisaok, in the beautiful dra ma of the "Old Guardi”, and as Lany O’Hooligan in the laughable commeditta of tho “Pride of the Bog.” The farce of the “Two Bonnycastles"- will also ho presented. Robbery. —A woman named Mrs. O’Neal who resides on Bank Lane, near Anderson street, Allegheny City, in-the fourth ward, was robbed of seventy-five cents; by some burglar,who en tered the house and cut tho pocket out of her gown, which was thrown across the foot of her bed. They also entered Mr. Adam’s Tavern which is adjoining; and took a good drab coat, a Flutina, (valued at $16,) and o bunob of keys, from tho reom-of one of the boarders. Delegates. —The Native Americans of this oily have chosen Capt Short,. W. Mays, .J, Green oagh, J. Wiokcrsham, B. T. C. Morgan, John Stowart and Henry Phillips, delegates to the State Convention which meets at Horrishnrgh-.on tho 80th inst. and Alex. Wadlow, Capt. V. Short, B. T. C. Morgan and Wm; Mays, were chosen to represent the XXI and XXII Congressional Dis tricts, in the National Convention, which moots at Trenton, N. The rise in the Allegheny river is from its head waters, and its tributaries •are generally all swollen sufficient to enable lumbermen to get their lumber to market. The parties reside in tho Third Ward. . Surety of the Peace.—Charles Bates was com mitted to prison . on Monday evening, by Alder-, man Thompson, of the Seventh Ward, on an in fbrmntion of surety of the peace, made on the oath of Mary Bates. Bates was taken out of prison yesterday morning, and sentenced, by Judge M’Cluro, to pay the costs and give bonds in the sum of $2OO for his good behavior. , Found HYm.—There were but five commitments to jail yesterday, for vagrancy, drunkenness and disorderly conduct; among the number was tho name of that strange and cccentrio individual known as John Smith.'- Ho has been rusticating fjr some time past, for when we lost heard of him, be was masquerading around our city and collecting money, as a shipwrecked Italian. Larceny —John Cook, the keeper of a board ing house in this city, located near the Court House, made a complaint against a boarder nam ed Seth Herbet, on Monday evening, before Aid. Parkinson. Ho charged Herbet with ma king way with a number of artioles from the house. The Alderman committed Herbet for. a further hearing to-day. Acquitted. —The jury in the case of Andrew and William Graham, .indicted for assault and. battery- with intent to kill William Phillips, re turned a verdict, yesterday, of; “Not Goilty,” and the proseeutor to pay the coats of the suit- The case was argued on both sides with great ability, and excited considerable interest. The Thermometer ranged from 86 to 90 degrees in tho shade yesterday, which was, by far, the warmest day we have had this season, and one, if it was not for strong settled temperance prin ciples, calculated tomako many a person “vio late” in favor of a'MintJnlep or Sherry Cobbler. ■ The Cincinnati, tbouglimot of the fostest,yet one of the very best boats on tho Cincinnati Packet line, leaves this morning, for Cincinnati.
