Safes. Thu furnace being prepared, tnc Sale was placed
inside thereof, with books, napera and some money; when
the door of the Safe was closed and the fire kindled at n
quarter past a o’clock, and m a 6hori time Die Safe was
red hot, andcontinued till half paste o’clock, being about
four and a half hours, when the committee expressed
tlteir satisfaction that the lime occupied with such beat
was sufficient. The furnace was then pulled down,Safe
cooled, and door opened—the books, papers and money
safe. Ihe heat was so great a* to met! off the brass
mountings. We therefore lake pleasure in recommend
mg these Sates to the public, as being, iu our judgment
