The furnace being prepared, toe Safe wa* placed inside thereof, with books, paper* and some mouey; when the door of the Safe wai closed and the fire kindled at <> quarter pastSo’cloek, and in a short lime the Safe was red hot, and continued till half past G o’clock, being about fpetr and a h&lf hoars, when the committee expressed their satisfaction that the time occupied with such boat was sufficient* The furnace was then pulled down, Safe cooled, and door opened—the books, papers and mouey safe.
