On motion, the Hon. JOHN B. GUTMEHE was called to the chair, and Col. Jsercs Ross Snow- DEN and GEO. BLANC.ItAttp--Dear Sir is whit-feelings not _LP easily described, that I havedettrutined to address you this letter. Previous to constating you,l had suffered. for several years from the effects of Self Abuse, and feel bound to express my grauttult to you, and to declare to the world that your course of treatment, both in a metal and physical sense, has been of the most beneficialehar octet. la early life, at schtml, I Seamed the habit of self Abuse, and continued the . practice 'or siX years, without being aware of int.siafal nature, or the terrible consequences sure to fidievi im indulgence. I first ob served my appetite very mush increaseol but notvrith standing that, I began to lose flesh very rapirdy, nail ex hibit :considtriableemaciation.' After a time, howeveri my appetite falledouni I became much debilmited,—the slightest exertion'fatigning me:exceedingly. sight became impaired, and Lfound my memory, not so good as lonneri Iola& exPerierteed atotal disability to con centrate my mind on any one idea for even a short time. My legs became very feeble, and tottered in walking. I also-had great difficulty in retaining, my urine. In thus erreebted condition, my friends advised ate to eonsult the family physician, who soon obtained from me such information at sati, fied him of the cause of my com plaints. He impressed on me the uecemity of relitiquish min mg the habit, pointing out the moral and physieal sure to follow Its indulgence, but could not cure inn of its effects which I suffered. The symptoms, nocturnal - discharges, inability to retain urine, a flow of serriene on the least exe tiou, continued to grow upon me every day. At this time the family physician, above alluded to, advised me to consult you. After a careful perusal M. your advertisement, I came to the conclusion that my ease was one which required your treatment, and I thank fortune I did so, and cannot let the present oppor tunity pass without again adverting to the beneficial ef fects which yourrnedteines and advice - have had upon. me.. How great must bethe reward here and hereafter, of one who creates so much happiness to the world. I have no aced of saying any more. rate.osed you will find a token of my gratitude. • I remain yours, ever grateful, JOHNSON. To Dr. Blanchard.
