MEETING or CONGIITTEEB.—The Kossuth Exe cutive and Reception Committees, met on Satur day evening, at Col. Bahl's. , A Circular to the Clergy, was read and ap- The3uls 7 Committeii of Arrangement reported, stating that they had engaged rooms at the St. Charles Hotel for the accommodation of Gover nor Kossuth and suite. A Committee of Programme for a Festival was appointed, consisting of Messrs. D. N. White F. Gilmore and Jas. McAuley. The tute of •Philo Hall having been tendered for the purpose of selling tickets, (at auction,) to the Kosentli Feedlot, on motion, the offer was accepted—the sale to take place at such time as the Committee on Festival may publish. Gen. Wm. Lorimer was appointed Chief Mar• ehal of the procession, with authority to appoint twelve Assistants, on the occasion. Roan Sreat.ixo.—On Saturday morning a young man, named Clark Smack, was brought. before Mayor Fleming, of Allegheny City, charged, on oath of Wm. B. Donaldson, with horse stealing. It appears that two young men, t(of whom Hosack was one) were anzisus for a . sleigh ride, and for this purpose took a horse from one place, a sleigh from another, and bar • „ ness from another, though, as he declares, not with felotilotts intent, and went on the Perrys ville plank road as far •as that place. In the meantime, Mr. Donaldson procured an officer, who stationed himself at the toll gate, and as they came back, arrested them. Hostiok.was also charged with larceny on oath of Jeremiah Weigley. For both of these offences he now stands committed. PAHODI'S Coxcsar.—We would direct the at tention of our musical public, to the grand vocal and instrumental Concert, to be given this even ing'at Masonic) Hall. This Will certainly be one of the greatest musical treats ever presented to our 'citizens. Teresa Farads', it will he remem bered, created an immense sensation in London, a fewseasons ago, and was considered unrivalled in characters such as Norma, etc. She is cer tainly one of the greatest vocalists that has ever visited our country. Signora• Patti is also most favorably known to the frequenters o f the Italian Opera; in New York. With regard to Maurice Strakosch, we can only say that he is one of the most talented and charming Pianists we have ever heard, combining with the power and execution of a De Meyer, the grace, ele gance, and taste of a Herz. Add, to all these attractions, the talent and voice of Mr. Arthur- Boa; the celebrated tenor, end we have the most distinguished and varied talent probably ever presented.on one evening, at any concert given in the 'United States. W:teti aumnsnow.—We were mach pleased Elitaiday, at the suggestion of Mr. Alden, before thiprimp r ury, inrelaiion to the condition of the Cot* Honae steps. It was at the risk - of sOfjusAllipy'that anyone ascended or descend- ettlions steps. lie had himself saved perhaps . the of an old man the day before, who would hailitillen hut for his timely assistance, though they both had nearly fallen. He hoped this would no longer be endured, but that it would be pediyerly remedied. ".Ciramines , DIORLMAS."—This evening, Mr. Wintsi, the proprietor, gives a complimentary benefit to White's Brass Band, which will be pre sent, and regale the audiende with some of their own splendid performances. AU who have not seen these Dioramas, should go at once, as this may,he,their last opportunity of witnessing the most splen4id ezhibition of the kind ever shown in our, eity. This arrangement has been effected through the ex ertiona.of ,Messra. t. Webb & .Huston, the de tails of which will be made known in a few days• A daily line is also about being estab lisned between Louisville and• Memphis. Tax Enos.—The " Pittsburgh," as is gener ally known, started from this city last Friday with the intention of proceeding to Louisville to try her speed fairly against the Telegraph No. 2, of which Louisville boasts so much. Telegraphic accounts from that place received -last evening, state that the Pittsburgh had arrived there, but the Telegraph - declined the trial; and that the former, in leaving Louisville, went out of sight froth the. city (7 miles) in 26 minutes, which is one minute less than did the Telegraph some time since. It is confidently expected that the Pittsburgh will make the trip in nearly an hour less time than that the Telegraph boasts of. ea. TES WiaTICSII, for some days past, has been of a abaraCter to defy augury. First we have a freeze, then now, next sleet, and then snow again. The "jingling of the merry sleigh bells" is almost constantly heard, and the merry voices_ of the parties form a pleasing accompa niment. We do not anticipate a closing of our rivers during this spell. The Ohio Democratic Convention met to-day, and passed a series of resolutions endorsing the new feature of the State Constitution, calling slavery an evil which ought to be eradicated, and its extension prevented by all lawful means ; bat sustaining the principles of the former con stitution on this subject, in favor of cherishing democratic principles wherever manifested—that while one nation interfered in the internal affairs of another, it was a breach of the Law of Nations, and ought to be punished : that us citizens, sooner than that the manifested republican prin oiples now existing in European nations should be crushed; they were ready to meet the shock of arms on the battle field to sustain them, if neces sary: that the weak and timid conduct of our government in sustaining the honor of our flag, and the interest of our citizens, was undignified and humiliating. The present tariff and cur renoy were endorsed, and equal taxation up. plauded ; and, after appointing delegates to, the National Convention, gave threo'cheeni for the Ohio Demooraoy, and adjourned. Wastrneures, Jan. 10. The National Intelligencer, of this morning, says that the interview which took place yester day between Gov. Kossuth and Mr. Clay, was most cordial and friendly, and of more than an hour's duration, in the course of which Mr. Clay frankly disclosed his sentiments at consid erable length, as to the policy of this country in reference to the question of intervention in European affairs. Mr. Clay, as is understood, is opposed to any change in the policy of our gov ernment, deeming it best not only for ourselves, but likewise for the downtrodden population of Europe, that we should pursue, as hitherto, the even tenor of our way. Gov. Kossuth paid the most respectful attention to all Mr. Clay said, and on his side imparted much Interesting intel ligence as to the social and political condition of the several European nations. .
