M.,inmake arrangements for the reception of the pntnol LOUIS-KOSSUiH, Governor of Hungary. oec24 SSL. A petition, signed by 116 persons, baa been drawn up and presented to Mayor Guthrie, requesting him to issue a call for a meeting of the people of Allegheny County, to be held on Saturday the 27th inst., to take snob measures I as may. be deemed necessary for giving a fitting I welcome to the great Apostle of Republican I Liberty, Louis Kossuth; as he will pass through I this city on his Journey. In accordance * with I this request, the Mayor has designated ithe New I Court House as the place 0f,., meeting, at 2 I o’clock, P. M. -Let every true friend Of Liberty, I and the overthrow of monarchies and theerec-j bon of Republics in Europe, attend. I “Lacoh and Gbow Fat.”—We advise all of our readers who wish to enjoy a hearty laugh to attend the Concert of Kunkei’s Nightingales I at Masonic Hall. The public have been bum bngged of late by different negro bands, promis >ng to give an evening’s entortainmeut of the I Ethiopian character, consisting of songs, bur-1 lesques, and their whole performances hove ( indeed been burlesques, m any sense of the word, j Our-citizens have been disgusted and robbed of I their money, nnd mggemm has been put rather I below par by such bands. But Kunkel’s Band, I we can assure our readers, belongs to no such I class of performers. They are certainly the best I delineators of the true Ethiopian character that I have performed in our city since the days of the I “Campbell Minstrels,” or the “New Orleans I Serenade™. ” J, Master Floyd, alias “Miss Fanny,” the ladies’ favqrite, is a ohaste and pleasing dancer His beautiful form, pretty features, and the easy grace with which he danceß, places him in a rank above many of our brag theatre dancers The beautiful and touching ballad, “The Old Sexton,” sung by George Kankel, was received | with tremendous applause. Mr. Kunkel is a 1 good singer, oudmature has endowed him with I a rich, full, and splendid voice. The pretty ballad “I’m Afloat,” as sung by F. E. Burgess, we must not let pass unnoticed; it was song in a plaintive and masterly style Harry Lehr, the people’s favorite, and the world renowned bane player, is the moat comical darkie we have ever seen. His very look sets i the whole house in a roar of laughter. The mirth I provotfng and. inimitable sayings of “Brudder Bones” are alone worth the price of admission And last, though not least, John T. Ford, the accomplished Agent of the Nightingales, is a olever gentleman; and with snch a Manager, the Nightingales, wherever they go, are sure to meet with the respeot due to a gentlemanly set of fellows. Again ttb advise all to go who wish to spend a pleasant evening; we are certain they will come away well pleased. They give an afternoon performance to-day at 2 o’clock, afi'd another in the evening at 6£. - Mb. Whipple’s Lectubes.— Mr. Whipple i s honored with crowded houses eaoh evening to 1 hear Ms interesting lectures. We are requested to say that in his lecture on Friday night, on the American mind, Mr. W. will take np the three different varieties of character as displayed by Clay, Webster and Calhoun; will analize their different powers, and show from them the ele ments of our strength. This will oertainly be an attractive lecture, and we have no doubt but that the house will he a perfect jam. Ahhuaes a_vd Gift Books.— Miner & Co., No. 32 Sraitbfield street, have just received a few copies of the following Annuals for the Holi days—The Masonio Offering, for 1862, edited by Rev. Wilkinb Hall. —The Ethiopian Serenaders, nnder tho direction of {lorn, Wells & Briggs, were again greeted with a full and fashionable house last evening. To-night is the fourth of their performances. If our citizens would have the pleasure of listening to the sweet and origi nal music discoursed by this celebrated Troupe, they must embrace the present opportunity. Since they opened at Wilkins Hall, it has been nightly filled with tho fashion of Pittsburgh.— The peculiar drolleries and witticisms of Horn and Wolls nightly bring down rapturous ap plause. To-day the Serenaders give an afternoon Concert at 3 o’clock. Thbatbe. —There is a brilliant bill presented for. this evening. Two grand performances—i afternoon and evening. The bill is one of the most attractive of the season, and should not fail, especially in the afternoon, to draw a crowd ed house of the little ones. The bill for the evening is one of the riohest of the season, and will be brought out in the best artistic taste of the .manager.
