ON Tuesday afternoon. July ‘25,1648, the undersigned
were called upon by Messrs. Lippencott A Barr, to
witness an honest und fair test of one ot their Plkbiuj
Safes. The furnace bcingprepared,iue Sam w;i* placed
inside thereof, with books, papfers and some money; when
the door of the bafe was closed and the fire kipdlcd at
quarter past 2 o'clock, and in a short tune the Safe was
red hot- and continued Ull half past 0 o’clock, being about
four and a half hours, when tho committee expressed
their satisfaction that the time occupied with such beat
-was sufficient. The fumace was then pulled down,bafe
cooled- and door opened—the books, papers and money
