The furnace being prepared, tae Sale wa* placed inside thereof, with books, papera and.some money; whe it Die door of the Safe was closed and the fire kindled at quarter past 2 o’clock, ami in a short time the Safe was red hot, and continued till half past 0 o’clock, being about four and a half hours, when the committee expressed their satisfaction that the time occupied with such heal was sufficient.
