WASHINGTON, July" 2:
The Republic denies that the Administration
interfered in the proceedings of the Lancaster
Convention; and states that the Resolutions of
the Convention are open to no just objection, for
they express unbounded confidence, and support
all the Compromise measures. The nomination
of Gen. Scott, who labored for as long a period
as over Mr. Clay did, to bring about the passage
of the Compromise measures, and who expressed
himself in the warmest manner in commendation
of the policy of President Fillmore, of itself suf
ficiently repels any contrary implication. Tho
Republic also highly eulogizes Gen. Scott.
