Landon Sr, Co. failed yester day in 'consequence of aCceptances for Peter Conroy, of New Orleans, on shipments of cotton, which, under the late heavy decline, in that ar ticle, they have been unable to meet, from the assets of Mr. Conroy, in their hands. The amount is about 180,000 dollars. All, the other engagements of The House will be met. FROM WASHINGTON WASHINGTON, July 1.• The Court Martial for the trial of. Gen. Wal cott, reassembled this morning. Thomas B. Barton, of Fredericksburg, Va., was caned, and deposed that the foundry there had beed closed since 1847. Dr. Carmichael had been interested in that, but no other foundry. He was not con sidered solvent or in good circumstances. Mr. Secretary Conrad was recalled, and un derwent a long examination as to the conduct of Gen. Walcott inselation to, the matters charged. The charge of disobedience of regulation of Jan nary last was withdrawn, as, the order to Dr. Carmichael was given before the regulation was issued by the Secretary of Way.
