L • OR, s . eci : a. - rt. • _ Pittsburghers Robbed in California.- - -We' have been permitted to make the following extract of a letter from Mr. Samuel Jitynes, to his brother in this city, dated Sacramento City, May 13, 1851, which gives another evidente of the great risk's and dangers attending a business life in California. M. S. J. had just arrived from a trading voyage, to . the Sanwich Islands, on the day following the robbery of his safe, during the temporary absence of his partner, Mr. Wand, from the store "The first news I had on my return to the store, was, that we had been robbed of all oar money and papers. On Tuesday evening, May the 6th, between 8 and 9 o'clock, while .Mr. Wand was out, our store was entered, by forcing the back door open; the safe (weighing between six and seven hundred) was - itlled Out, put into a hand-cart, and carried to the'ont side of Town, where it was stowed away in the bushes until after search bad been medei for it, by all our neighbors and friends, some of whom were with in twenty yards of it, but were not so fortunate as to see it. When the search was girennp, the robbers bursted the door open with powder, and made way with the 'money, to 'the amount of seven thousand dollars. 'All 'our papers were found, with the safe, on Thursday morning.— We had one man taken up,- who we aro satisfied was one of the principal men in the act; but not being able to, prove any thing positive against him, he was discharged." The following notices of the above robbery we take from the Sacramento Transcript of May 13: Safe .Found---The safe which was .stolen the other evening, from Messrs. Wand and Jaynes, was found yesterday morning near the brick yard, below 0 street. It had been blown open, and of-course it was empty. A hand cart was also found near it, which had been employed to remove it to the place where it was found. Who the hand cart belongs to we have not heard—it ':vas brobably stolen from some place in the neighborhood. We are sorry to say there bare been no traces yet found to the thieves. The Robbery of Wand .5. Jaynes—Jno. White hill was brought before the Recorder, charged with being concerned in this robbery. The ex amination was adjourned until this 'morning.— He was liberated on giving $2,000 bail. Menagerie.—The large, combined establish ment of Raymond & Co. and Van Ambnrgh & Co.,which will be exhibited in this city on the Third, Fourth and Fifth pvzimo, is the most eitensive now in the United States. It numbers over one hundred and fifty different s p ecimens of Natural History. There are no less than Ten noble Lions in the collection. The world mnowned Van Amburgh, with his celebrated trained animals, cannot fail to excite the great est curiosity among the millions: Mons. Craw ford will also go through a variety of interesting performances with his trained . animals. The pavilion which is to contain this immense estab lishment is 400 feet long by 150 in width. Thentre.—Mrs. Barney . Williams appears to night in her original character. .of Hassarac, in the splendid spectacle of ".The Female Forty Thieves," which has 'been gotten up in magnifi cent style. The pathetic drama'of "Ireland As It Is" will also be performed, in which Mr. Wil liams will sustain his great character of Ragged Pat.
