It will be seen by our telegraphic despatches that the Democratic State Convention which assembled at Reading, nominated by acclamation Col. WIL. LUM BIGLER, ofClearfield, for the office of Gov. enter, and GOD. SETH CLOVER, of Clarion, for Dina' Commissioner. These nominations will be hailed With universal satisfaction throughout the .litate, by the honest Democracy ; and we entertain - doubt whatever of their triumphant election. The harmony and unanimity which the Democra. ey have manifested in the selection of Col Biome. as our standard bearer in the approaching paign, clearly shows that be stands high in the con fidence of the party. He is no old faahloned Dem ocrat, and has always been true as steel on all the great questions of the day. He is a man eminently fitted for the position for which ho has been floral. Aimed, and from his-lonvexperience in State affairs, we feel confident that ho will adorn the station that -was - filled with each diatingoished ability by that mauling Democrat and bonnet man, Fitencis R. Snort. We feel irate in predicting that he will be -electedly at least 15,000 of a majority our Goy. lonwarS, or any other man the whigs may nom'. .itiate. • Gen. Semi Ctoece is on honest, atraight-forward, 'radical Democrat, and will make an admirable Ca , Eat Commissioner. Ho is a good business man, prompt, active, clear sighted and de tided. In North Western Pertnaylvabia, where he is well known, ho will pull a large vote, and throughout the State we feel assured that the party w ill give him their nedivided aufrragea.. L' Heßrta, Etta.—Col S W Black, who-was pond dated for Governor by nearly all the counties of the Wert, sent it glorious and matterly letter this morn ing to the Conventioa, desiring his Mende to. disre gard-their Instructions and vote for Bigler, which was read amid, loud cheers, and a resolution wa■ passed by the convention, desiring him to speak at. the ratification meeting - to-night. tar lr. holm freowDetv, the Local Editor of the.rotortai, called upon us early _yesterday morn. tag to sly ihit ha did not write the lying and scuts riloasitetathat appeared in the local column of yeaterdars.ToranaL Such an ebullition of black guardism could only have originated with the gouty; splenetic gentleman who announced the other day that the steamer Washington - was ( rcoming up the bay.” Col. C o ld er. We yesterday toad the pleasure of taking by the hand our old friend Col. Ulna Comma, of Stets. benville, late Collector of the Port of San Francis. co,California. He is in fine spirits, and appears to be enjoying excellent health. The Colonel Is on his way to Washington, we understand, for tho purpose ofeettling his affairs with the Government. Although Do hai been abused and slandered in the meat dia bolical manner by some of 'the meaner Bort of Whigs, yet we have always said and believed, aid still believe, that ho will come out of the furnace like pure gold. Whatever may be the Colonel's sins, we know ho is en honest and honorable man, and would rather cat off his right hand than wrong the government of his country. The cowardly and libelous assaults that have been Made upon hlmomenated from such Men ha Seward, Greeley, &c., who have generally been found arrayed against their own country, nod giving aid nod comfort , ' to its enemies. The tees Colonials and presents Col. Comma has in his pos session, voluntarily given by the citizens of Sao Pntnelace and the clerks in his employ while Col. lector, show that those who . tnow him well loves' and admire his character. Etati Road Company AT H&RRABURG. A Bill in Chancery was filed on the 2nd day of May in the Supreme. Court at Harrisburg, against the Pennsylvania Rail Road Company, and notice given that an injunction would be applied for on the first Monday of June. The Bill is filed by some of the Stockholders against the Company and its directors, alleging that the defendants are violating their charter by engaging In the general forwarding and transport ing tipsiness between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, 'on the Pennsylvania Canal, and various Railroads other than the Railroad belonging to the Compa. ny, and it prays that the Railroad Company be enjoined from engaging in and carrying on buai• ness off their owri Railroad, and from establishing agencies, depots, &c., at Philadelphia or elsewhere than upon theiine of their own road. The complainants appeared and made their mo. tion this. morning,.[Juna 2d,] by their counsel, Sealant & SrvorTor, MEBEB=Ts & HARDING. The defendants by Gsonoi M. DALLAS, CARP. BELL, Wrx.r.tints & I.aoassora,, applied for fur ther time to prepare their defence, alleging that a small amount only of stock was represented by the complainants; that the capital was ten mil. lions of dollars, and it would greatly injure them to have the injunction awarded. .To this it was replied that neither the magni• tads of interest on one side, nor its smallness on the other affected the question; but the Court were bound to consider the rights involved free from any such consideration; that the facts charged were known to every officer of the Company, and could as well be admitted or denied one time as another, and the President of the Company being present, his affidavit would be received without objection as an answer. - Chief Justice tiussost being absent, Judges Ronan, BILL and dui]:Dins, assigned the last, Monday of June foi bearing the motion. Cain. Tan, Judge, expressed his opinion that the case ought to be beard now without delay; ample time had been given to prepare the defence; the magnitude of the defendant's capital gave them no privilege in Court over other suitors; on the contrary ha thought the fact thatthey were a pow. erful corporation, whose action deeply affected the public interest, was a strong reason why an mediate bearing should be had io order that it might be known that they were as well amendable to laws as private individuals. Besides, the offer of complainants to receive the affidavit of the President es 'an answer without exception re. moved all pretext of necessity for further time. The Court being of opinion the case should be hiard this term, Monday the 30th of June was specially assigned to bear the motion for injunc tion. Sia Joan Ftuniartr.—lt was six years on.
