victed on two charges of Larceny and - one of Bur*
glary,, was brought into Court.on Saturday morning
for the purpose of receiving sentenco. Tho priso
nsr expressed a de&treubat hts connsel>Mr. Magraw,
•honld be present, coraiog into Court, stated
to big Honor that although, there waa some $l3OO
worth of. goods which Had not been identified, they
were forfeited andsubject to execution, to make ip
tbe losses qf the prosecutors. John Thomas had a
family—a wife.and four or five children—for whom
there had been no provision made, and bo hoped
that for their sake the Court would he merciful to
the prisoner-rthpy might senlenco him on one
charge and hold, the others over him, that if-he
didn’t behave when bo got out, the Courtconld send
him back.
' His Honor remarked that he had no idea of giv
ing him the full limit ot the law, but that he and
hts associates.bad concluded on the sentence.
On ihe prisoner being asked if he had anything to
ray, he said that he wrahed to return his humble and
nncero thanks to his coupscl for the able manner in
which they bad discharged their duty to him ; and
to the Court for the respect paid him during the pro
pcsßor his trial. Ho also returned hia thanks to
Vfr. Fox, the jailor, for tbe uniform kindness with
which bo bad been treated during his imprisonment.
Bo did not censnre his-prosecutors—having been
mnviclcd, it did not become lum now to say whether
be was innocent or godly, but he hoped for the sake
of his family that the Court would be merciful.
Tbo-prisoner was sentenced -ibree years to the
Penitentiary on each larceny, and five years on the
mrglary, making eleven years.

say it has done tnc more good than any other medicine
