ON Tuesday afternoon, July ito, 1848, the undersigned
were culled upon by Messrs. LipicDCOU A Harr, to
witness an honest and'fair test of oucoi then Phcsnix
Safes. The furnace being prepared, toe Safe was placed
inside thereof with booke, papers and some money; when
the door of the Safe was closed and the fire kindled at
quarter past 2 o’clock, and jn a short time the Safe was
red fcot, and cotttmucdliU half past 0 o'clock, being about
four artu a half Ildars, when the committee expressed
theiTsatisfaction thatthetime : occupied with such heat
was sufficient. The furnace was then pnlled dewu,Safe
cooled, and door opened—the books, papers and money
safe. The heat was so great as to melt jriTthe'brass
mountings. We therefore take pleasure .in recommend
