advantages. This, however, is not Weshall
therefore, confine ourselves to a few remarks. On the
filhday pf June; 1844, {nearly seven years ago;) we fin*
isheaour first job of Tin Roofing in this ,place. From
that up lo.the present lime, wc nave covered with tin
the tools of the finest and most costly buildings that
have been erected in this county: -We faaVe'giveh our
views on a previous occasion oh the superior advantage i
otTm over iron, ns.a covering for bouses. .And timW
the great tester of all things, has but 100 clearly proven'
. the correctness of onr opinion: .
. Again, if we place‘Turin juxta-poaitionywit'hSlateaa
a.qovermg for honses, we think thattin will bear a favo
rable comparison, with some decided advantages
These advantages are, that when Un is used the roof can
be made much flatter—thereby saving in the
length of rafters, bnck hi/the .gable ends—making the
house easy of access in case, of a'fire,-and showing a
better finish and appearance.. Also,'when tin is used
me gutters are worked iii, thereby saving the extra and
f envy expense for copper guttersjeopper flashings,&c.,
.—things indispensible on slate roofs'. If further reasons
were deemed could offer the experience
of our eastern cities in proof what has been advanced,
as it is a well known fact that New York and othereast
ern cities very generally prefer even tin for their most
costly and splendid buildings, notwithstanding they have
a fullsupply of slute Qt their doors. With these remarks
we will leave the subjcct with those imerested, aadwill
take pleasure in giving further information when called
