ON Tuesday afternoon, July 23, 1648, the undersigned
were called upon by Messrs. Lipreucolt & Barr, to
witness an honest and iair,tcstof one o* their Bhcenlx
Safes. The furnace being prepared, trte Saie w;i-'pinced
inside thereof, with books, papers and some money; when
the doorof the Safe was closed and the fire kindled at u
quarter past 2 o’clock, and iiifi short time the Safe was
red hot, und continued till half past 0 o’clock, being about
foar and a half hours, when the committee expressed
their Ba'is&ction that thirtirae occupied with suuh heat
was sufficient. The furnace was then pulled dewm,Safe
cooled, and door opened—the books, papers ambraoney
safe.: The beat was so great as to melt off the brass
mountings. . Wo therefore take pleasure in recommend
ing these Sates to the public, as being, in our judgment,
