ATLANTIC HEARD FROM. 0
New Yobk, February 14. j
Capt. Willlama ol the packet eh.p Se.no, who (
.a,ini from Havro on «ho SOU. of December, passed
the aleamer Atlantic on the lat ol January, ISSI,
four days ont, under full bead or ateam, and appa
rently all well: The general auppos.tion now is,
that her coal gave out. _
There is now considerable excitement m Wall al
PHItAOSLsaiA, February 14
The packet ship Sein arrived this morning, and
reports haring seen the Atlantic in longer west.
Tour days out- capt. Williams did not see any thing
remarkable in net movements, bot thinks, f she
had been disabled after bo saw her, she could not
have reached the western Islands m eonseqoence of
the wind blowing from a contrary qsarter,
The Atlantic had, if tht. is correct, accomplished
only onevfonrth of her voyage ,u those
and this is much less than her usual speed. Ifaoac
cent had happened to her after, it wou Mrequire
probably several weeks to return, under sail, either
to on English or Irish port, or the Azores.
The tot that the Atlantic has been seen by a
jlavrc packet, would seem to indicate.that Capt.
West ha. taken a southern course m this voyage, a
the Havre ships never get so far north as the usual
northern route. Conjecture is still awftl, and every
one is hoping that the Africa, now duo, may bnng
further tidings of her.
Wo have some fcara that the steamer seen was
not the Atlantic, but tho Franklin, from Havre,
which sailed, January Ist, two days after the Allan
nc.and loft Cowes on the 2d. q,o armed at New
York, January 16. _
