    The WoEKo.— We yesterday paid a
the EeWj.eslabliahmeilt of Messrs. Coleman,
Hailman & Co., which is situated on Duqucsne Way
nnd Ethintreeis, in the fifth Ward, and could not
but admit lbe excellent style in which they have
gone inio operation. The building is 92 feet by
215, and was built by Messrs. Boyd and Murdoch.
It is admirably adapted for the purposes intended.
No convenience is wanting, and every thing has
been done with an eye to cheapness and economy.
The ms'chinery was constructed by Messrs. Knap
& Co., under the supervision of Mr. Richard Savery,
a mechanic who has few superiors jo the City.
The Duquesne Works manufacture iron in all its
•various branches. The Works ■produce flat bar,
round and square hoop, oval and hall oval iron,
nail'rofls, springs, half patent and patent; axlea,
bras* nun, and a great variety of other articles,
such as patent pressed spikes, nails, brads, &c.

Both rooms were crowded, and nil the men were

good, but prices are not so firm. - Sales of 35,000
Bs of Hog Round at 6}, 4 months, and 32,600 at 6,
Choice Cut: another lot of 4000 Bs at 6}, 60 days."

Sales of Hams at 8, Sides 6,07, Shoulders 606i C
from Smoke Honee. St. Louis Cured Shoulders:
we have 10 hhde reported at 6,. In Mesa Pork and
Mess Beef there is nothing doing.
GREASE—We note salos of 40 bbla in lots at 5-
<2*ss, 4 months.
LARD—Salos of 40 kegs No 1 Lear at 7, ;20 do
at 7, ; in bbla at 6,07}. Sales of 40 kegs No 2 re
potted at 7.
GREEN APPLES—SaIes of 70 bbls at the wharf
at $1,26 bbl.
DRIED FRUlT—Apples: sales made at 75 cte
Peaches: 51.2501,30, from first hands.
RICE—We still quote at 4}&4i.
GRAIN—We have no change to note in prices or
in receipts.
FLOUR-—The receipts are light, and prices un
changed. We resume our former quotations: from
the wharf, 53,4003,45; from wagons, a shade more
is asked.
GROCERIES— The market is firm. In Coffee
there are small lota sold at 12-012,, and firm; Sales
of Sugar at 606} in lots, and firm. Molasses : wo
could hear of no transactions worthy to note ■ we
quote at 32033. '
TOBACCO—Continues firm; the sales, however
are limited. We note a sale or 16 botes B’e at 25*
•4 months, (Richmond .manufacture.) ’

Colton— Telegraphic accounts of the “Arctic”
came to hand yesterday, reporting a dull Cotton
market at Liverpool on the 11th inat. Upon the
receipt of the news here, buyers obtained lower
rates, and we noticed sales of 2500 bales at a de,
cline of Jc. We alter our qotations as follows.

Washington, February 7.
Senate.—Mr. Winthrop presented the creden
tials of Mr. Rantoul, member elect from Maas.
Mr. R. not being present, Mr. Clay raised the ques
tion of privilege, contending that as Mr. R. had not’
accepted, Mr. Winthrop was entitled to occupy- his
seat.
Mr. Davis offered a resolution that Mr. Winthrop
was entitled to his seat until Mf. Rantoul appeared.
Mr. Butler opposed the resolution.
Mr. Rhett offered a j-esolatioQ declaring the term
of a Senator holding office by Executive appoint
ment was vacant upon the assembling of the Legis*
lature of his State.
A debate ensued—Messrs*'Berrien and Borland
agreeing with Rhett, and Mesars. Downs, Bradbury,
Walter, Seward, Underwood, Rusk and Clay
agreeing with Davis of Mass.
Mr. Hale moved to lay the subject on the table ;
without taking a vote, the Senate adjourned.
House.—-The House resolved itself into a com.
littee ot the whole, and took up a bill to establish
Board of Accounts.
In committee of the whole took up a bill estab
lishing three Commissioners; to act tfpon claims re
ferred to them.
Mr. Nelson advocated the measare, and showed
how little .was done for claimants by Congress.
Mr. Thomas opposed the bill, believing that it
would lead to fraud and corruption.
Mr. Venable advocated the bill
The committee rose, when, oa motion of Mr.
Burt, a resolution was adopted to dose the debate
until to-morrow at 2 o’clock.
The House again went int 6 committee of the
whole, when Mr. McLean of Ky. spoke in favor of
the bill, and without finishing his speech, he gave
way for a motion that the committee rise, which
prevailed—and the House adjourned.

FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE,

Henry Hollsworth was taken before Commission
er Ingraham, this morning, as a fugitive from Leeds,
England, where he hid defrauded his employers out
or a largit sura of money. This is the first case
here under the late international treaty between
Great Britain and this country.
Jackson, Miss., February 6.
John A. Quitman, Governor of Miss., resigned
hisofficoon Monday last and started to New Or
leans on Tuesday, to answer to charges preferred
against him by the Federal Court of tho Eastern
District of La., relative to his connection with the
Cuban Expedition.
Hon. Mr. Gewinne,President of the Senate, was
inducted into office as Governor of Mississippi, on
Wednesday, the sth inst., by-subscribing to tho
Constitution and taking the oath of office.

the Constitutional Convention, at the request of
what purported to bo a meeting of his Democratic
constituents, who disapproved of his votc'against

There is troublo again among the coal bearers at
Richmond, and a riot is anticipated. The Marshal’s
