then, become fully appreciagd by the community, and
we allege that the longer it 5 tried the more eery:unveil]
its great fame spread. - It is not the remedy of a day;
got up for the sole purpose tit making money ; but, one,
which we conceive, will continue to be used when all
nostrums have.heer. forgotten, The PETROLEUM is
r. Natural Remedy, elaborated in the depths of the earth
by a power agency - that laughs to scorn all'human
competition._ I t i s our duty, when, we write about a
medicine, that we write ratan-that we say nothing
calculated to deceive those - who may trust our word or
put confidence in our statements. The sick are very,
apt to catch at anything - that promises relief from dis
ease. A story can hardly be too highly wrought to an
swer the object of gulling.or humbugging some of thert.
Now, we do notalesire to do this ; we are anxious only
that the troth in relation to our Remedy should be told,

OTuesday afternoon, July 2,5; IE4B, the undersigned
N
were called upon by Messrs. Lap(eneott& ,Barr, to
wituess an honest and fair test of one •oi. their Planar
Safes. The furnace being prepared; toe Sate was placed
inside thereof, with books, papers and seine Money; when
the door of the Safe was closed and, the fire kindled at
quarter pasttl o'clock, and in a short time the Safe was
red hot, and continued tilt half past ft o'clock, being about
four and a half hours, - when the coalmine° expressed
their sansfaction that the time occupied with such•heat
was sufficient. The furnace was then pulled down, Safe
cooled, and door opened—the books, papers and money
safe. The heat was so great as to melt off the brass
mountings. We therefore take pleasure in recommend
tag these Sates to thb public', as bemg, in our judgment,
entirely fire proof. I.A.AVIS&TEASUE, •
