A new Union movement has been started at Wash
ington. An address has already received about 60
signatures, among whom are Clay,' Cobb, Foote,
Toombs and Stephens.. The signers pledge them

and Douglas are said to have refhsed to sign.
The National Theatre at Washiagton; the same
place where Jenny Lind gave her concerts, was
opened last evening by Geo. Welch as a circus. After
the performance. bad commenced, the dress circle
gave way, producing for some limo much alarm and
confusion. A scene of terror and excitement ensued,
but strange to as; no one was seriously injured,
though about 100 persons were precipitated a dis
tance of about 16 feet into the basement below.

A destructive fire broke out last evening, in Ache
eon, Rommel! and. Fry's forwarding and receiving
depet on the North aide of Market above 10th. The
buildink occupying the whole distance , front Market
to Hunter, was roducsd-to a heap of ruins. 'The
adjoining bowies were saved through the untiring
ezertions of the fireman. The store contained a
large, quantity of flour, grain, whiskey and seed,
which were consumed. The loss is about 820,000,
only partly insured.
Wm. Hall was fatally injured by the falling or the
walls, nd several firemen were , badly injured. -
