fray-took place, on Saturday last, between Joassn
KrausEr. and Wiza.rem 8..8LEY 3 of Cannel!Bailie, in
Fayette county, which caused the death of the lat

previously inimical to each other; and coining to

that befell to the ground. Alter Balaley fell, it is
also said, Kimmel k icked him on hie head, or stamp

Monday morning from the injuries received in the
affray. On the same day Kimmel was committed to
our_county jail, to await his trial for the act.

of the same goods which we usually nitrous the
North. We feel assured that,we might safely defy
a comparison with similar products horn northern

This county has. hitherto been. famed for lOyalty,
but the old.sentiinent has been 'completely under
mined.; The. mast intelligent of the conservatives
and open annexationists, and our liberals have
long leaned:southward, and are too independent
and sagacious to submit to the dictation of the
.ministry. As soon es Montreal . leads off' in the
formation of an association, we shall 'follow suil.!
The bordering] counties—Shefford and Rouville—
are equally well, affected towards the cause. The
southern portiori,of the latter county suffered much
for its loyalty during the rebellious; but the very
men who stood up for , the integrity of the empire
then, are now equally resolved to seek its dismem.
berment. The border counties of Lower Canada
are poor compared with those separated from them
by an imaginary line. This fact is pregnant with
irresistible argument. We are determined to enjoy
the same .advantages that our neighbors do. In
Stanstesid and Sherbrooke, the people are clamor
ous for. thelOutbem:alliance. In fact, the eastern
township constituencies of Lower Cannda will all

In almost every resolution passed by the Conven

farmers, merchants and mechanics not having been
honored by even mention in the call, this declaration
by the Convention is modest, to say the least. The
