On the 16th of last March, he dodged the Tote
on proceeding to the consideration of the bill No.
341, entitled an act for the regulation and con
tinuances of a system of Education by Common
Schools " See pages GIS and 616. -On the 22d of
same month, while voting upon other questions in
the House, he also dodged certain votes in regard
to the improvement in our Common Schools.
This is the first chapter. There are others yet
to conic That which we have given deserves no
comment. It places the trickster and politician
—the demagogue and the federatist—iti his true
attitude before the people of the State, whose
votes he is seeking, by the most reckless aud dis•
honest pledges and promises.
