THIS ACADEMY will be re-opened for the reception
of Lads and young Gentlemen, on the
Pleat Monday, the 3d Day of September.
The e'onrse of Study will embrace the common branch
es of en English Education. and the higher departments
of the English Sciences ; with the Latin, Greek. French
and German Languages.
Pupils can be thoroughly prepared to enter College
intelligently and unembarrassed. The course of study
for those not destined for College, is both comprehensive
and practical.
The government of the Institution will be mild, yet de
cided. Anthortty will always ho sustained by reason and
affection; and to secure a proper-regard to the general
government of the School, our process is, first, we en
deavor to convince the pupil that what we require is
reasonable ; next, that it secures his own personal inter
est, as well as the good of the whole. Punishments (or
misdemeanors when absolutely necessary, are of such a
nature, as to affect rather the mind Man the body not as
satisfaction for the offence, but us a prevention to the
recurrence of similar offences. Having found this mode
of government preferable, it will be adopted in future.
Strict attention will be paid to the Physical, the Intel
lectual, and the Moral training 01 the inmates of Ibis
