ATTEMPT TO POISON A WHOLE FAMILY
CINCINNATI, July 21.
Capt. Summon. and his whole family, comprising
eight or nine persons, were all poisoned yesterday
by arsenic being put in their tea. A woman em
ployed to sew for the family, and three others are
dangerously sick. Mr. Hanson and Capt. Summons
are very ill from the effect.. Capt, Summon'.
son Jeans has been arrested on suspicion ; he was
known to purchase arsenic last evening. This son
has been very dissipated, and his object . in poison
ing father, mother, and whole family, was to gat
their property, supposing oeubtleas that their deaths
would be attributed to the prevailing epidemic--
Capt. Summon'. has been living with his family in
this city for about two weeks, his place on the Lou
isville Mail having been temporarily filled.
