COTTON—There vras a better demand for Cotton
on Saturday laat, and the tales summed up antout
2500 bales, at steadier prices than before. On Mon
day, the favorable accounts by Abe America being
laid before the public, a still more active inquiry
arose, and the sales of that and the four :allowing
day. amounted to 8100 bales, as follow.: 1600 on
Monday, 1500 on Tuesday; and 5000 on Wednesday
and Thursday, at a general improvement in prices of
one-eighth to one-quarter of a cent on nearly all
grades. Yesterday there was a good inquiry, and,
notwithstanding the rain, some 3400 bales changed
halide, making a total for the week of 14,000 bales,
taken principally for England and the North. The
advances noticed shove is fully sustained, and our
last week , . quotations are raised accordingly. At
all the United States ports the receipts now show an
increase 0(431,817 balcs, while at this port there is
a decrease of 80,019 bales.
