Tin Roofing.
THE aub scrib eta moat respectfully announce to their
fellow-citizens that they: havis perfected their- ar
rangement to carry on the business of Tin Rueful.' on an
extensive scale. - -
Itis now close on four years since we first introduced
tin roofing in this city. During that time we have cover
md over fifty thousand square feet of roofs witAtin plate,
and in all cases we believe we have - given the most en
tire satisfaction. This kind of roof has beeif applied to'
the very best buildings in this city;.including, among a
largenumber of others, the two superb buildings on Penn
street, owned by John L. Shoenberger and John Bisset,
'Emirs. That tin roofing (when skillfitliy laid an) is both
permanent and durable, there can be - -sto doubt; in proof
of this,wc can refer to the almost universal application
of this kind of roofing in the large cities on the sea-board
during the last twenty years; and - pi enquiring en the
subject, we have yetto learn of one of those_ roofs
having been worn oat .:. The roofs °vexed with tin in
our own eity . are open to the entrain — on of who take
an interest in the matter. We have alio prepared a
tu t
miniature plan of roofs, which may be Seen at our estab
lishment; where any other Information will be given with
pleasure. , JOHN. DUNLAP ac CO..

seen the trial of one of these machines of smallest size s
that two men will wash the mineral from 150 bushels of
sand or earth in a day, without the loss of a particle of
the mineral. They can be increased in size and worked_
by water or mule power, if expedient. 'The operators
work without going into the water or being exposed to
water or wet, and consequently without endangering
their heath They will require but a small stream or
water, and can be used the whole season, and can be pat

Hale's Patent Rotary Machine,
- APPLICABLE TO TIM 173P3 OP
FORCING AND SUCTION PUldy, FIRE MOINE,
Steam Engine, Ventilator, and Water Wheel.
Tins remarkable Machine was invented by Eusak
aux, of New York, and bids fair to supersede, in
all its above applications, the machines , now in use. It.
has been visited by thousands, and tried in many of its
applieatious, and its success has outstripped everything_
in the history of useful inventions. The compact formal
the machine, its simplicity . of construction and new ap
plication of established prAnciples, render it an. object of
admiration to all who seel t..
As a common Pump, for the'use of famiies, its portabil ,
ity and the facility with which it can be converted into a
Fife Engine, are among its advantages. It is equally
useful for all purposes to which Pumps can be applied on' .
steamboats or vessels, to supply boilers, washing of decks,,
pumping the holds, &C., ho '
For Mines and Hydraulic Works of all kinds, it re
quires less power to do the same amount of work, and is
less liable to get out of repair than any pump, ever be
fore invented. It throws a continuous stream of water,
without the use of an air chamber or any complicated
double acting appamtus.
As a Fire Engine, not one half the number of men era
required as upon the machines now in use, and they can
work a much longer time without fatigue, owing to the
. manner of the application of the power—either by crank
or capstan.
As a Rotary Steam Engine, this machine has supplied
that great desideratum among scientific men, viz : obtain- •
ing a constant rotary action, which can be satisfactorily
applied to practical purposes.
As a Yentilatorfor Mines, Wells and Vessels, or a Blower
for Furnaces, it is easily and efficienly applied.
As a Water Wheel, working either by departing or en
ering water, it is something entirely new and eminently
useful. It can be used as to obviate much of the expense •
it nlaying foundations of mills, digging of water courses
&c. tee
One of the Machines can be seen and some of its ap
plications tested, by calling at Union ,H e 'u corner of
Fifth and Smithfield streets, entrance on Fifth st.
Rights for individuals, Counties, tee., within the State
of Pennsylvania, can be obtained of the subscribers, as
above, and any information relative to it cheerfully given.
