tin roofing in this city. Daring , that thus we have cover

and In all cases we believe we have. given the most en

the very best buildidgs in this city, incladlng, among'a
large number of others, the two superb buildings on Penn

EN:vs. That tin roofing (when skillfully laid on) is both
permanent and durable, there can be no doubt; in proof
of this,
we cannier to the almost universal application
of this kind of roofing in the large cities onthe sea-board
during the last twenty years; and from enquiring on the
subject, we have yet to learn of any one of those roofs'
having been worn out. The roofs covered with tin in
our owncity . are open to the examination of all who take
an interest . in the matter. We have also ptepared a
miniature plan of roofs, which may be seen at our estab

READ TIIIS LETTER.—Who will be without a beau
tifal head of hair, when they can have one for three
shillings? Twenty years' loss of hair and wonderful
restoration! • '
" Ravrrszona, July 17, 1847.
"Dear Sir—The wonderful effects of Jones' Coral Hair
Restorative has been decisively demonstrated in the ea
ses of several respectable citizens of the town, who, on
account of your selling three shilling trial bottles, try it
withontfear. One instance, which has attracted partic
ular attention,
is the ease of a gentleman who had little
or no hair for twenty years; he had tried numeroui pre
parations in vain, and ultimately had his head shaved and
wore a wig. ,At my recommendation, he tried the Re
storative, and after using it, according to 'the direction,
fora short time, the young hair appeared and he has now
as fine a head of hair as any person in Baltimore. -
Yours,Ae. JOHN KILVINGTON."
It causes eyebrows to. grow, prevents the hair from
turning grey, and the first application causes it to curl
beautifully, trees it from scurf, and stops It from falling

ll Hatt, of New:York, and bids lair -to supersede, in
all its above aPPlications, the machine" now in use. • It
has been visited by 'housefuls, and tried in many orits
applications, and its coccus lies outstripped everything
in the history of useful inventions. The compact (orator
the machine, its simplicity of construction. and naw.ap
plication of established principles, render it an object of
mlmiration to all who see it.
• Asa eonnnon Pump, fir the use of families, its portabil
ity and the facility with which it can be converted into a
Fire Engine, are among its turventages.. It is' equally
useful for allpurposes to which Pumps can be applied on
steamboats or cruets, to supply boilers, washing of decks,
pumping the holds, &e., &c . , &e.
For Mines and. Hydraulic Works of all kinds, it re
quires less power to do the same amount of work, and ia
leas liable to get out of repair than any ptinip aver be
fore invented. It throw" a continuous strewn of water,
without the use of en air chamber or any complicated
double'acting apparatus. • • - :• .. .
As a Fire .Engine, not one half the number of Menu"
required as upon the machines now In use, and they can
work a much longer time without fatigue, owing to the
mannerof the application of the power--either by crank
s or capstan.. ' - •
As a Botary Steam Engine, this machine baa supplied
that great desideratum among scientific men, viz : obtain
ing a eartaterit rotary action, which can be satisfactorily
applied to practical purposes. • . •
As a. Vent il ator for Mines, Wells and Vault ) a
or Blower
for Furnetea, it is easily and efficienly applied. • '
As a Water ince; working either by departing or en.
ering water, it is something entirely new and eminently
ocelot. It can be used as to obviate much'of the expense
it flaying foundations of mills, digging of water courses
&c. &c •

plications tested, by calling at" 17:nair Hs." corner of
