Bjif, highly as we value the men of the early days
of the Republic, there are men now living, (who
hove borne their part id carrying forward the good
work begun by .their , fathers, y to-.whom succeeding
generations will accord as high honors as to d&y,
'Uaue one, of those who aided in starting our govern
ment upon its world-wide career. We are not
among the bomber of those who conceive that oil
patriotism cxpirciLwnh the fathers of our constitu
tion, and the glonods men who achieved pur inde
pendence $ and, though we would go farther, at aoy
time, to prove our veneration of thememory of those
patriots, than any of tboee enemies of our institu
tions who call themselves “Whigs;” yet we arc
that men now live among ns, who only
| lack the Occasion, to prove themselves as great, as

i r befbrh them. Nearly all of these, are men who
| would be as basely traduced by the organs of the
i Federal party as Hus day,-as were the fathers of the
Constitution twenty or thirty years ago ; and nearly

ness, piety from profanity, or patriotism from selfish,

green tea plants, Chinese stock, have just srrired ,
from London, in tbe.ship; American Eagle,-shipped 1

There are 600 plants, of from five to seven years’ j
growth;—all are designed by the doctor for seed
plants. A small quantity of tea Seed was brought
out by him, in tbo steamship Britannia, which waa
received in London overland, from the north-west
provinces of India. We understand the Doctor de- l
• signs ,lo.proceed soon to tho South, with a : view of j
forming a plantation. More plants and seeds are 1
: expected from India and China this season; and if we i

The Cleveland Plamdealer announces that a ngfif
