There was el. citenient enough there to keep a cool blooded per son awake. The discussion upon the Omnibus Bill W.lll indeed interesting. Messrs. Laving, Block, Tot ten., and others, advocated it, and it was bitterly op posed by Messrs. Denny, DaLewall and one or two uthera. The opponents fought the bill in all its de tails, from the first reading till the final passage. There was a little too much personality some times, for comfort, but upon the whole the discussion was fairly condected. The object of the anti-Om nibus men was really to kill the bill by an amend ment which would send it bask to the Common Council, where it would, probably, be defeated. The friends of the Bill successfully opposed every amendment—they voted down amendments which they would really have been pleased to have en grafted, but were not willing to hazard a so much for so little." It was candidly avowed by a tuember froth the Seventh Ward, that the Bill was imperfect, and in many respects wrong 1 buttwhat could they du I They would tail in, their efforts to get any thing if the Omnibus sill, with all its iniquities, was not passed.. In this spirit did the new wards sus tain it, and they were right. The Bill wait adopted by seetiens—the first sec tion passing with only four or five nays. On taking the vote upon the whole Bill, several persona known to bo bitterly -opposed to it, refused to votes We thought this a pile strange. Perhaps they hope for promotion in the city some future day, and wish to have the power to declare that they slid not vote against the ordinance for supplying the upper wards with water.
