Deily Review of the Markets
OFFICE OP THE POST. /
.., Tessastr Moionso. May 9th, t--4S.S
. .
Business on the wharf yesterday - was very brisk—on
stemma of the arrival of a great number of boats. The
liver is Rood high, and yesterday afternoon the rain crane
slown'rapidly, so that the prospect of continued high wa
ter is encouraging. Freights appeared to be plenty
We have an uninteresting retiort of the operations in
the market; there were no important transactions ; and no
Fhnterial change in prices
Flour—The receipts were heavy, but much of it was
for shipment. There were however, many large sales on
the wharf, but at the figures of last week. The following.
are-so:Le of.the transactions as reported to us: 150 barrels,
at $4,05; 13, 14, 20 barrels at $1.50; 250 barrels at 24,651;
20 bbls, ai 84,60; 290 bbls, at $4,65; 300 bbls, at 54,67; 300
bairels, at $4,65; 29 barrels, at $1,75, resold at $4.67.
From store there were several sales by dray load at
111.3591.91; somensking 04,57.
Dried Apples—We notice a few lots in market; no
large sales; demand good; sales in a retail sway at 6:0,-7.
Oats—Receipts fair for sonic days pn-t, and sale of
500 bushels from store at 153 c.; sales at wharf at 20c.;
regular sales from store at :0":51e.
Bacon—lye found the market drooping, yestenlay.
Small sales of Hams at 41e.; I ton at snore: a fair lot was
offered at 41e. Of Shoulders, 400 lbs. sold at 24e.
Flax-Seed—Sale of 33 bushels from first hands at
90e.
Eggs—Rather carre , ; sale of 2 bblr.. at Qr.
Fish—Regular Enka of Herrings nt 3.5 75110 00, with
an upward tendency, on account of the advance in the
east.
Potatoes—The receipts were very• large yesterday.
The wharf was erow, leil with them. Sales of Galena
Nashaanoeks at 50 c. 4? bus.
Batter—Sale of ' s? bids. Prime Roll at 1.1 e.; 1 barrel
do. in cloths at 14,1 c.; fair article sold as low as lie
The tendency is downward_
Money—The complaint of tightness way aggravated
yetterday, by the suspension of the Erie Bank. None of
the Brokers are buying the notes. We still advise hold
ers to hold on ; as it is the opinion of all the knowing
folks, that the Benh is good enough—considering that it to
only, timer money shop. •

of you are really suffering from neglected colds, oran ob
