FlittiAT Uoii i.o. April 28, 1848.
The business of the. week has been regular, and
fair considering the lowness of the water in bah
rivers, and the advance in the season. We have
found all our merchants busy and they appear to be
satisfied. The check given to navigation on the Al.
leglieny is seriously felt by the Liberty street Gro
cers and Produce Dealers. The tightness. in the
money market is still felt, and has a bad effect.
[sec Money Article.] On the Canal the trade is
regular; snipinents of Flour, Preclude, &c., contin
ues extensive. There is no change in Freights.
On the Rivers, the business has slacked ve
ry considerably ; Freights are scarce. We notice
no change in prices. The water is low ; but last
evening at dusk there were but 1 feet in. the channel.
The prices ih our table may be relied on, as we
were particularly industrious in gathering the Correct
quotations.

MONEY.—The complaiut of ‘tightorss , still pre_
rails, and many seem Maimed at the future. But
from tl.e best sources fur correct Mformation„ we
learn that the prospect i■ that a change for the bet
ter will soon come upon our people. In the east,
Money is much easier; the best paper in the streets
is taken at only 8 per cent. Our Bank• here do not
discount freely, but it is thought that after the annu
al dividends are declared, they will be a little more
liberal. Cunene) is bought at 21 per cont. by the
Brokers. We again omit the table. In regard to
the Sandusky and Norwalk Banks, the feeling to.
wards them is favorable. Our Brokers regard them
as entirely safe, but refuse these notes because of
the difficulty in getting them off. In a few days the
credit of these institutions, will be good, so that we
advise those holding notes not to sacrifice them.—
These is no excitement in reference to any other
Bank.
