A New Britatica.—On Wednesday, a new and
magnificent steamer, the Oriental, dropped down to
our landing from Brownsville; at which place she
was built. She is entirely finished, except "Texas"
and the furnishing. The owners could not- find in
Brownsville such furniture as they desired.
The Oriental will be commanded by Samuel Van
[took, an experienced and popular riser inan. She
is intended for the Pittsburgh and St. Loui■ trade.
A more substantial and well arranged boat does not
float. Her engine has been pronounced superb.
A "doctor" is attached, She leaves on Monday.
