Weiklgr Review of the Market.
OFFICE OF THE POST. I
Fhiday Mossiico. Ftbruary 25. 1618. S
The buiinca* of this week ha* been a decided Improve
ment npon that of lasi. The »ale»from wholotalo grocerie*
and warehouses of Pittsburgh manufaotures have been
quite extensive. Orders have come in from abroad in
great plenty.
The River* are quite high, ’and the wharves look bnek.
The Monongahela is crowded with freight*, and on the
Allegheny we not ice twostcnmers loading np for the trade
of that river.
In price# we can note but few changes.
Money— The demand for money* is not so excessive j
as when our last weekly review was written; and from <
the favorable indications in the east, we are led to be* \
lieve that the stringency will soon abate here. There
has been an advance in the rates of Exchange on Indi
ana. The banka are changing 3 per cent, for time bills
on interior and .inaccessible points in Ohio; and the same
WgH Taith' is charged on all points in Indiana. This is
occasioned by the scarcity of Eastern Funds in the
countsy banks, men Canal navigation opens, a favora
ble change will take place.
Aalien— There is some demand, but receipts equiva
r lent. The changes In pricts are trifling; in fact, we findjt
difficult to get at current quotations. Oar table will ex
hibit the present rates as near as we can arrive at them.
Beans —The supply is fair, with a tolerable demand
£>r the email white; sales are made daily at 87mix
exed are sold at 62975.
Apple# —The market is well stocked -with the best
qualities; the receipts from above and below, have been
- pretty feir. Sales from first hands have been made du
