FLOUR—Receipts very trifling yesterday. It
is probable that but little will come in for some
dam on account of the bad condition of the roads,
which are now almost impassable for laden wagons.
There was no change in prices yesterday; and we

are the highest prices the dealers 01 give. From

BULK PORK—We notice some receipts which

of large lots from Ohio and the Nest--many hay.
ing made very heavy purchases. The facilities for
curing in this rity are very great; and perhaps
not properly understood by western merchants,
Many who have tried the experiment of sending
small lots from Ohio to Pittsburgh smoke houses,
have pronounced the plan as economical, having
advantages over the old system of curing at horns,
withoUt the necessary knowledge or arrangements.
We noti;e this, as it may be of some importance
to our readers in Ohio and elsewhere, to know
that it would be to their interest to send their

Sprrie.—The sum of two hundred thousand dol.
lane vi ill be forwarded by the steamer from Boston,
and for the month of Jamie!) , by all vessels there
will probably be a militon carried off, nearly bell(
of which comes from the banks. American gold
is the thing exported chiefly, and this allows stet.-
ling bills to go up to 11att f prem. for the few
names which in these time's are perfectly unexcep

At the close of business to-day, bills of common
and good quality are more plenty, and the demand
less officient—Journal of Comment.
PO ahead !—The Pride of the Wert worked a
passage through the ice at least thirty miles, and
Neut on her trip. She seemed to be determined
not to be stopped by gorges or anything else.—
Cape Gir. Eagle, Dec. 31.
The stearriiiii Julia and Algoma arrived last
evening from New Orleans, both in a crippled
condition. They will be repsired and leave for
NeWOrleans with despatch.—St. Louis New Era.
ix, We see that efforts are making to launch
the steamer laurel. She has been lying high and
dry at the Levee for some time past, and the pree
ant stir in business no doubt makei her owners
anxious to see her once more, in her natural eta.

DR. HOFFLAND'S CELEBRATED
GERMAN MEDICINES! .
Are without a rival for the Cure of the following
Diseases!
IF taken according to directions they will cure
any ease, no matter who or what else has failed.
VEGETABLE RHEUMATIC PILLS.
For the permanent cure of Rheumatism, Gout,
Gangrene, tlysterea, and severe nervous affections,
and are highly recommended for the cure of Drop
sy, Hemoral Asthma and Neuralgia. Patients using
them, in most takes, 'experience benefit neon after
the first dose; they quiet the nervous system, which
enables them to rest well during the night; they
never fail to effect a cure, when taken according to
directions.
No outward application can permanently remove
rheumatic pains from the system. Liniments some-'
times act as a palliative for a short period, but
there is always danger in their use; :hey may cause
the pain to leave or.e place for perhaps a vital part,
or else where the pain will be more acute.
GERMAN BITTERS,
For the permanent cure of Liver Complaints,
Jaundice, Dysp4isia, Indigestion, Chronic Debility,]
Chronic Asthma, Nervous Debility, Pulmonary Af
fections, (arising from the liver orlstomach) diseases
' of the Kidneys, and all diseases arising from a dis-1,
ordered stomach, in both main and female, such ssh
female weakness, dizziness, tidiness of blood to the
head. They rtrengthen the system, and remove
ascidity of thestomach, and give it tone and action,
land assist digestion; they can be taken by the mos 6
delicate stomach; and in every case will entirely{
destroy costiveness, and renovate the whole system:
removing all impuritles and remnants of previwoA
diseases, and give a healthy action to the whole)
l
tame.
• The symptoms of Liver Cwriplaint arc uneasine ;Si
And pain in the right side, and sum nese upon toucani
immediately under the inferior ribs; inability to hell
on the left side, or if at all able, a dragging sentia-1
rum produced, which seriously affects respiration;
causing very often a - troublesome cough; together
with thesemptinns we perceive a coated tongue
acidity of Illefstomach, deficiency of perspiration
and sometimes:a sympathetic pain in the right shoul
der, with a great disposition to sleep and depri e l l
lion of spirits, and sometimes sores in the moutlll
or throat, causing mucus to rise in the nostr.ls;
jaundice frequently accompanies it, and a Dropsy,
lin the face. These symptoms, if permitted to conif
' tinue. will eventually produce that rubs[ baneful 1
disease, Consumption; in fact a majority of such can
es originate from the irritating cause above mete 1
tioned. Cathartic medicines must in every instance,
ha avoided in the treatment for it.
The symptoms of Dyspepsia are very various-4 1
those affecting the stomach alone, are nausea, heart!. I
burn, loss of appetite, sometimes an excess of a t
petde. sense of fulness or we-gin on the stomach,
sinking or fluttering of the pit of the stomach; feted I
eructations. or sour arising from the stomach, &d. 1
The sympathetic affections are very diversified..
Dyspepsia, devoid of a functual nature, is with t
danger, but if arising from a disease ofthc stonsaci ,
it is dangerous ) hh
;
Nervous Debility generally accompanies ilyspep- i
c
la aor liver complaint; it ~,-11 also cure. A lcw d,...1
.s will remov a all the unpleasant -effects, each as
fluttering at the heart, aching sensation when in *
lying position, dots or webs before the sight, fever
and dull pain in the helid, constant imagin ng o f
evil; and great depression of spirits. Outward signs
lore quick and strong pulse, pale and distressed coun
tenance, &c.
Any case of the above disease can Ire cured ell -
(natty by the use of the Hitters as directed.
SUDORIFIC,
the
cheat,
remedy fur coughs or colds, or the
chest, spitting of blood, influenza, whoopi ng cni , g ),,
bronchitis, hemoral asthma, or any disease of the
lungs or throat.
This is an invaluable fiimily medicine. It solos
releavea any cough. or hoarseness, and prevents t re
croup by being early administered. .No cough or
cold is too light to pass neglected; neglected colds
send thousands to the• grave annually, and callizie
many to grow up with a delicate frame, who ,wodld
have been strong and robust if at first peeper-1y
treated. f'
SPIKENARD OINTMENT,
and'
rheum,
the effectual cure of the piles, letter, nnd
rheum, scald head, ringworms, inflamed eyes or eye•
lids, barber's itch, frosted feet, old sores arising f-tim
fever or impure bloo d; and will extract the fi re film
.
burns, upon application, or remove any cutaneous
eruptions from the skin. Persons troubled with ten
der faces should use it after shaving; it will in a ew
moments remove all soreness, and stop the bleedig.
1 ,,
It can always be relied upon, and is invaluabl ' in
(
_any family. I
'FAR OINTMENT.
For the cure of pains or weakness in the litt l
er
back or chest; it will entirely remove any d C
seared pains. These remedies have caused 1:0' ny
to enjoy the inestimable blessings of invigora ed
health, and in a variety of desperate and abandoned
cases, a perfect and radical cure.
The innumerable impositions upon the public, and
statements of remarkable cures never made, yet Cer
tified to by feigned names, or by persons wholly tin
acquainted with what they have endorsed, renders
it difficult to do justice to glie public in offering suf
ficient inducements to make a trial of these invalua
ble medicines. They are entirely vegetable, rand
free from all injurious ingredients, and claim your
patronage solely upon their merits. Every fa oily .
should have a pamphlet; they can be had of the agent
gratis.
