Mr. Porter respectfully announces that he has at,
considerable expense fitted up apartments, and ar
ranged light for Gaguerreotyping purposes. His long
experience in this art has enabled him to overcome
many of the objections too common to picturestaken
by this method.
Mr. Porter is aware that the impression has gorie
abroad (owing to the many failures to produce good
pictures,) that clear and distinct Daguerreotypes can
not be madO in Pittsburgh. His experiments, how
ever, since he has opened his Gallery, fully warrant
him in saying that as good pictures can be made here
as elsewhere.
Ladies and gentlemen are invited to call and ex

Vegetable P alaortary.Balsam.
IT is now about twenty years since 1 first used
the Vegetable Pulmonary Balsam in my. family.
Since that time it has been my practice to keep a
supply of the article by me for the use of my family,
which is large, and for 'the benefit of my friends.
I have uniformly found it to be a very valuable, effi
?scions medicine; and think that by using it season
ably for the complaints for which it is recommended,
it has often prevented die disease from taking a more
serious form. In one instance I recommended it
to my brother, who resides in the State of New
York, who was dangerously ill with a complaint of
the lungs; he has since written to me for more, hav•
ing found nothing which gave him so muc
