PITTSBURGH MIRKBIS--WEE66Y REVIEW.
.oFFict OF THE . POST,
Taunsiiiir Mon.virso, Dec. 24, 1847. S
. We present our Meekly Review, with such al
terations as' have Leen nointed out to us by our
bitSinest men. But little, change has occurred
during, the week in pikes, as , our readers will
observe. • • •
There bas been; as we' notices yesterday, .a great
demand tor Produce with but small: quantities
coming in.. 'timer, Laid, Dried Fruit, Flour &c,
sells readily. The country Merchants are 'be.
ginning to send in their produce- in' payment of
their bills, which is readily and gladly received
here. &me articics of Produce are reckoned
Letter than cash. . •
As an evidence of the ..general prosperity of the
coontry, we will state that oar city wholesale
dealers report that the country, merchants have
been prompt in meeting their engagements. , No
" bad debts have yet been diecoVered. This goes
to show that the farmers and mechanics of the
country, are in good cireumstaneei at present...—
Confidence is at its height, and if not abused by,
the-hot baste of some businessmen" to get rich,
will last for , years, to the mutual bet, eftt of pro-1
ducer, consumer and the go-beiteCen, or merchant.
We 'hreVe no change in Money matters to note.
kinds continue scarce, in conse
quence of the, great demand for glass. We
notice a- slight advance in Pots, Scorchings and
Pearls 'since last week. ,
