Mount Savage Coal and Iron Company, in trust for
the use and benefit of the United States, by deed
bearing date 31st day of December', 1842, and re
corded Jan. Bth, 1843, in liber A B, No D D, fo
lips 18.10, and 20, on the land records Of Allegany
county, .Md."
Toe said lands were also sold by the markhal of
the State of Illinois, under distress warrant against
said Swartwout, on the 22d November, 1843, and
bought in by the United States. The deed of the
marshal to the United States was executed June
15, 1844, and duly recorded in the several counties
in the State of Illinois where the land lies.
CONDITIONS.
I. Each bid must be, for a separate number on
the schedule, &c., for cash; to Itt.deposited. at one
of the following places, to the credit of the Solici
tor of the Treasury, specifying, air aacount of what
parti War number in the schedule of property it is
deposittil, to wit :
The United States Treasury at Washington,
District of Colombia ; the Assistant Treasurer at
Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Charleston, S. C.,
New Orleans, rind St. Louis;
Thi. Collector of the Customs at Buffalo, N. Y ,
Baltimore, Md., Wilmington, N.C., Savannah,Ga,
Mobile, Ala., and Richmond, Va.;
Surveyors of the Customs, Nashville, Tenn.,
Cincinnati, Ohio; and
- Ilecei4rs or public moneys at Little Rock, Ark
Jeffersonville-, Ind., Chicago, 111., and - Detroi ,
Michigan.
,2. Each bid must be accompanied with a guar
anty, in the form given below, which must be cer
titied by a collector. naval officer, marshal, United
States district attorney, or postmaster, that the
guaranty is good, and the party making t it is re
sponsible for the amount.
t. On receiving a certificate of deposits, _signed
by inc of the depositories above•mentioned, a quit
claim deed, conveying all the right, title, interest,
and claim of the United States to the property de
scribed in the bid, and paid fur, will be executed
and acknowledged by the Sdlicitor of the Treasury
free of all charge to the purchaser. Stich convey,
ance will be sent, free of expense, to any, post
office in the United States, as may be requested.
4. No bid will be accepted unless it Shall be
satisfactory to the Solicitor whether there shill be
one or more bids for the property.
5. Before bidding, all persons are requested to
make themselves acquainted with the situation,
value, and title of the property they intend to bid
for, Se as to rely upon their own judgment in bid
ding.
C. After the last day for receiving them, the bids
will be opened in the presence of such officers of
the department as shall be able to attend : and will
be examined and passed upon as fast as practica
ble. Notice will be given promptly to each per
son whose bid is accepted. b6t to no others.
.7. The name of the bidder should, in all cases,
be written at length, and in a legible hand. The
bi bier should give the name of the post office to
which comtpunictaions are to be sent.
8. Bids must be sealed and marked on the out

rear:;" and addressed to the "Solicitor of the
Treasury, Warbington, D. C. "
9. Form of a bid, guaranty, and certificate :

10. Plats of the lands at Boston can be seen at
the office of the United States district attorney in
that city, and in the Solicitor's office at Washing

11. Bids not performed on the part of the bid

conditions. may, at the option of the Solicitor, be
declared null and void. In all cases where fraud
may have been practised against the United States,
the Solicitor may, before executing the convey
ance, declare the bid invalid and of no effect.
