VOUlt years age hist August, the capital of FOnte
Was astonished in Consequence of a,
discovery
made by an Italian Chemist. Many doubted--itsecm
ed almost an impossibility that- any' thing made by
the hands of man, could have such singular powers
as that claimed by ANTONIO Vrsintrct for his inven
tion. Manyclassed him and his invention as a hum
bugs (and, alas! many foolish persons without trying,
do the name now;) at length, after testing it in the
hospitals, the Medical Society of Paris, (the best
chemists in the world) delivered the following report
to Signior Vesprini:
" We have now minutely and carefully etamined
the singular invention of Vesprini. We have analyz
4ii its component parts---we have used it in several
cases, and we hesitate not to prornounce it (The
Italian Chemieal Soap) as a great blesiing, and a
truly wonderful remedy for any ctitanions eruption
or disfigurement of the skin. Its inventor we On
eider the true phinthropist of suffering mankind.
' (Signed) .LEOPOLD DUPREY, Pies."
Then comes the report of the "Societe de Plnsti ,
tote," of siientiticexperiments
" We are :triton nd . exclaim sth e aged president,
"at this singular preparation—VesprinPs Italian
Chemical Soapl Where, indeed, will science stop!
Here we have.n preparation made in the form of
beautiful piece of soap, which we know by actua
practice, to cure every cutaneous eruption, every
disfigurement of, and even discolored skin ! Where
will '
its . magic and singular power cease ? The Ne
gro. the Creole, the Yellow Race of the East, and
the Red Man °fare Far West, are alike under the in
fluence ofits extraordinary powers of clearing yel
low or discolored akin, and make it white and beau
tiful, and of changing the color °Nark, or black, or
brown skin.” (Here no -oral persons were brought
forward by the president, who had used it, in proof
of his assertions.)

Paris, Nov 4, 1840.
In consideration of the sam of $3500, I have di
vulged to Mn. T. Josms, residing in the City of Now
York, N. A., the whole process of manufacturing,
together with a statement of the ingredients compos
-ing my Italian Chemical Soap. He is to manufac-
I tore it for sale;in the United States only, and to have
the privilege of naming it "Jones's Italian Chemical
Soap."
Witness, Henry J. Holdsworth.
(Signed) • ANTONIO VESPRINL
There are probably few persons of intelligence,
who, after reading the above, will doubt the quali
ties of Jones's Italian Chemical Soap, in curing
Eruptions, Disfigurements, Freckles, Salt Rheum,
Scurvy, Erisypelas, Sun-burn, Itforyhew, Tan, Yel
low or Browd.skin, Ere. • Should there be sun per
sons, perhaps the followibg recommendations a,

well as hundreds from others, may convince them.

Rheumatism, Gout and Tic Dolottrrux.
4 RESPECTABLE gentleman called at our office,
/ - 1 as he said, to inform us that he had been lllic
ted for fifteen years with Rheumatism or Gout, :old
occasionally with Tic Doloureux; that he haillbeen
frequently confined to his room for months together,
and often coffered the most intense and excruciating
pain, but that lately be -id been using JAYNE'S
ALTERATIVE, from whit t Ile f9und the most sig
nal'and unexpected relief. says he found the
medicine very pleasant and effective and Withe
now considers himself perfectly cur ed.—Phi/ode/.
phi a North American.
A FACT Woarn Know/N.G.—A gentleman of Scro
fulous habit from indiscretion in his younger days,
became affected with Ulcerations in the Throat and
Nose, and a disagreeable and troublesome eruption
of the Skin. Indeed, his whole system bore the
marks of being saturated with disease. One hand
and wrist were so much affected that he had lost the
use ofthe hand, every part being covered with deep,
painful and offensive ulcers, and were as hollow and
porus as a honey-comb It was at this stage of his
complaint, when death appeared inevitable from a
loathsome disease, that he commenced the use of
Jayne's Alterative, and having taken sixteen bottles,
is now perfectly cured.
The Alterative operateithrough the circulation,
and purifies the blond and cradi ates disease from
the system, wherever located, and the numeions
cures it has performed in diseases of the skin, can
cer, scorfuls, gout, liver complaint, dyspepsia, and
other chronic diseases, is truly astonithing.—Spirit
of the Timex.

Pit - mutton, Jan. 7th, 1547.
Mr. Joint MORGAN: —This may certify that for
several weeks pa•t, I have been afflicted with a se

rest by night, or laboring with any ease tnr. ugh the

used up, my cough has entirely subsided and ap
